they can also pull your license plate # and see all of your sticker info.
How do some of y'all make it through life remembering to breathe?

A good lawyer will also request his latest eye test. Most of the time the doctors they use will just pass them without even checking though. This can work in your favor. If his test says he has perfect vision have your lawyer set up a demonstration in the courtroom. You can even use a neutral eye doctor to perform the test, juries love that. If he doesn’t pass the test you walk.

They have plate readers that scan every plate and they can pull up the registration.

Yep. I got pulled over for the same thing a few years ago. I thought there was no way he could have noticed my expired tag, but he said they have a scanner on every cruiser that notifies them somehow when there's an expired tag. I guess there's something in the sticker or something.

Just pay it and move on.

Why is there an annual renewal fee?

Or maybe the plate is tied to the registration on the vehicle.

Since you can renew registration online in less time than it takes to order a pizza, I don't know if you really have an excuse. The OMV even sends you a reminder in the mail.

They can see the color

I was pulled over once by an officer who noticed the color when we were going 55 in opposite directions. I complimented his vision.

Here though, the color wouldn't look incorrect until January when all 2021 tags are obviously expired. The expired tag could be 2021 but they wouldn't know the expired month. They'd have to run the plate to know before pulling over.

I don't see that working and you would be wasting your time. He's not doing anything wrong by running plates, plus there is no way to prove that he didn't see that your sticker was expired.
