I have two court hearings down there this week. Any of you know any decent lawyers in the sticks looking to make easy money?

The commute and the ferry are going to get old quickly.

I never thought they’d open up the old court house again.

Thanks.

I don’t even think they have decent gas station food on that side of the river.

If I am looking at the right place, it appears there is a Winn Dixie. So you can probably get an 8 piece fried chicken basket

they don't even have a gas station... Well maybe they will now soon... When you bring rich-ish people such as judges and lawyers to work somewhere, infrastructure seems to magically pop up

The residents of Belle Chasse should riot or burn the court house down again

(Plattsmeir if you’re reading this, I’m joking about burning the court house down)

the closest gas station on that side is by the Belle Chasse -Scarsdale ferry

Thanks for the info. This move is really inconvenient.

I’ll find some atty to stand in for me hopefully in the future.

I could leave my house 40 mins prior to hearing, now it looks like it will be an additional hour, and being dependent on a ferry.

It’s ridiculous to have a courthouse there.

Here is the complete list of places on that side of Plaquemines...

B and V Blue Room bar and restaurant in Phoenix
An unnamed bar in Davant
A nice park with a swimming pool open on weekends in Davant
Phoenix HS, K-12, a good class C basketball program
The little store in Pointe a la Hache
United Bulk Terminals
Plenty of churches.
I think there used to be a post office?

EDIT-forgot the new jail and the hidden community of Harlem

And Stella Plantation

Is it a fishing community like the rest of the area? I don’t think I’ve ever been there. It’s too far from St. Bernard parish, and I never crossed the river in plaquemines.

I do but I only specialize in international bird law. It’s my niche.

Beshels Marina used to have a gas pump and some microwave sandwiches and snacks. Don't know if they still do since Katrina.

Harlem is on the wrong side of the back levee, and is basically semi-abandoned camps you can't see from highway 39 even though some are three stories up in the air. The gate is pretty much always locked.

I believe it officially opened last week. All new filings have to be sent there.

There is still a skeleton crew in Belle Chasse at the annex.

I can’t imagine how fricked up it will be for jury trials. How many ferries will they have to wait on for everyone to cross?

Wait they are moving everything there permanently?? I thought it was only going to be open to hear cases involving people on that side of the river.

Honestly after Katrina they should have given all east bank plaquemines to St Bernard. Not that we want it... but would make more sense than having it still be part of plaquemines

ETA: wait this is permanent?

Double edit: I just looked at the 25th's calendar. Everything is scheduled in PALH. Definitely agree that jury selection will be a cluster.
