What are the odds that someone who is an absolute shite parent, who routinely blasts their kids on Facebook in the trashiest ways and keeps a steady rotation of trashy live in girlfriends, being awarded visitation rights to a grandchild in a small town in Louisiana? He is suing for grandparents rights - does my friend need to get an attorney or can she just play a slide show of the vile and awful text messages, videos and social media posts from her father and get this shite tossed out?

You should consult an attorney.

Is “grandparents rights” even a thing? I would assume not, but I’m not an attorney.

They do in Louisiana. I've looked into this in the event I was to pass away for my parents. They have a legal right for reasonable visitation.

Yes it is! Although the statutes in LA that govern grandparent visitation rights seem kind of vague.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I do know that you have come to the right place.

Even if the parents are alive? frick that.

Not that I wouldn’t want my parents or my wife’s parents to see my kids, but that’s my choice.

Its only if one parent dies. As much as I cannot stand my former in-laws, they have been a part of my kids lives and I wouldn't deny them visitation. I would only hope my ex would do the same. Thanks to the law, she really can't deny them.

Sounds like a woman. Piss the guy off then document his reply as if he instigated everything and as if that’s who he is at all times.

Maybe your female “friend” is trash. Either way, a father should always have rights and his parents can see the kid when he has them.

I don’t know what you read, but my friend is happily married to the father of her 2 year old and doesn’t want her own trashy father being around their daughter.

And yes, I’m totally talking about myself but saying “my friend” on an anonymous message board where my username is my actual name. I’ve been busted.

And everything that’s documented is on his own trashy social media pages. And the stuff I’m talking about is him referring to his 12 yo daughter as a fat whore - like this isn’t a situation where some poor adoring grandfather is being kept away from his granddaughter- this is someone that has run ins with the law and who’s adult children have had to cover bills for him because he can’t be bothered to show up to work. He has no relationship with his daughter but is suing for access to her child. He’s not a victim.
