I remember going to the derm when I was a teenager and he basically looked at my face for less than 10 seconds and wrote rx's.
So you had zits. What did you want him to do, stare at your acne for 10 minutes appreciating how unique yours was? Review history, check lab work if needed, prescription and follow up. That's all that's needed.

People are just used to the days when the doc could just sit around and shoot the shite. Everyone would prefer that but the nature of payment and running the business of the office doesn't allow it. The Dermatologist 20 years ago didn't need more time for acne either. Move quicker now and take more time with the more complicated patients such as lupus, etc.

I am working to remedy this. However, you will probably criticize my model despite the fact it will deliver excellent care while bringing true value to people and allowing me to profit from it
That is all I am going to say...

We have known what needs to be done for many years now so why are we unable to stop this avalanche cascading forward with no sign of slowing? I often chat with my colleagues about this and a recurrent theme pervades: We were not given enough training in nutrition, lifestyle or behaviour change. Good health occurs outside the doctor’s surgery - not inside.

Whole lot of money being handed out in the name of research and education, every local doctor I could think of and entered into the database has received payments from pharmaceutical companies.
LINK
"Doctors received $3.5 billion from pharmaceutical companies and device makers over a five month period in 2013, according to figures the federal government released this week. The massive dataset includes 4.2 million individual payments made to physicians (including dentists) for things like meals, consulting fees and royalty payments for devices they have helped invent. The new data includes 360,000 doctors by name."

Obama care is destroying medicine. Doctors work on production and don't have enough time to spend with their patients. It's a disaster and getting worse daily.
Help me understand this. So if a person has Obama care.. If Obama care didn't exist, what would be that person's other option (if they were in a position where they had to buy their own insurance)?

Seems like doctors just deflect any conversation with "Obama...". Sure, they would love it if everyone paid out of pocket cash for their invaluable time.

No doubt your doctor walked in and saw your crazy arse and couldn't get out of the room fast enough.
Just go see a different proctologist about those warts.

This is what the road to universal healthcare looks like. Longer wait times, shorter visits, and entitled patients.
This. It's already here for the most part. Want more time? You willing to pay for it?
Other options-can go to NP, can change doc's, can quit seeing doctors altogether. I mean we're lazy, ignorant and don't do shite...So, why waste ours and your time?

I just clicked your link and searched myself and ten other physicians hat live in my neighborhood.
The largest recipient of these evil dollars was a grand total of $384.00
Nice link. Evidence that we are bought and paid for by the drug companies.

Dermatologists don't need to sit there and perseverate over a rash. They're trained seeing things over and over again. 99% of things they see they'll have an answer immediately.

Is it because they are lazy or because they have quotas?

Most of us take the lunches cause our staff likes it. I could give a shite. The last thing I want to do when I do get a rare lunch is to sit down with some douchebag sales rep. You think a $8 lunch sways me? Fine. Change docs. Where do people think those free samples come from? WE are the one that have to listen to their shite so YOU can get free meds.
