The GT-R is not and never was intended to be used on a drag strip. These are two different cars used for two different purposes. The first time the Demon has to make a turn it's rolling over and over and over.

This isn't a production street car either. You can't just fill it up with gas at the local gas station and hit those numbers either. Also being limited to just 3,000 being made means that anything you need to replace on that car will be very expensive as well as the labor.

It's a niche car just like the COPO Camero was. The numbers are impressive but at the end of the day it's a drag car produced by Dodge. GT-R isn't a drag car. The sticker on it maybe only 80K plus but will run much higher than that just as a race car would.

Fine that's fair.

For the record I would pay $150k for a GT-R Nismo over buying the Demon.

Anyone with a brain would.

I like the GT-R's.... I would put that car up against anything that's being sold for the street today.

I would as well, but I wouldn't but the GTR either for that money. I respect the car, just not a fan.

Because it's fricking awesome.

My wife said we need to maybe get a third vehicle. Something smaller than what we drive I can commute with.

Told her NP. I'll buy a wrx

In all seriousness, I know of someone who literally just had this happen.

That said, Godzilla is the gold standard of modern performance. The NISMO GTR can best damn near anything in the world on the track and do it around $150k.

I will admit, the Dodge folks are not trying to be a track car. They openly admit they want (and are) the lone modern muscle strip car. On that front, the Demon is phenomenal.

The same price I can buy the new Lexus LC 500 and have the same amount of fun on a track. Not a dragstrip.

But hey if you baws wanna blow six figs on a Dodge eat your heart out.

How many times do you have to be reminded that the Demon is not a road race car? Stop being stupid. Not to mention, you know Dodge makes a track car too, right? The Viper ACR would blow the doors off of a Lexus LC500 for near the same price. The ACR blows the doors off of cars that cost twice as much actually.

Saying the Demon doesn't have a segment is dumb...it falls into the same segment as any supercar - rich people toys. You severely overestimate the amount of people that actually track (1/4 mile or road course) their expensive performance cars.

ETA: and the GT-R is the most vanilla supercar ever. I'd honestly buy a Demon over one.

Oh I don't disagree with that at all.... I'm just saying they aren't spending their money very wisely if that is the fastest they are going. I know my brother has spent maybe half that and he was running upper 7's to low 8's in a NMRA True Street car.

We get it already, you are a Dodge Manwhore.

Have fun in your Demon.

Calling a GT-R vanilla is about as dumb as it gets.

It's a dodge, so poorly made, many maintenance issues to be had.

You overestimate the engineering power involved here. They couldn't build a 7 second street car with $200k

What gave it away, my Hellcat avatar?

I have a preference toward Chrysler products, but I'm objective regarding the industry and it's products as a whole. Slap a blue oval or bow tie on the Demon and I'd give you the same responses.

It don't dislike the GT-R, it just wouldn't be my preference if I was spending that money. The Demon wouldn't either, but if it was strictly GT-R vs Demon, Id take the Demon. The GT-R is a great car, but it's getting old and it's starting to show. I call it vanilla bc it's garnered a reputation as being almost a robotic driving experience...not a bad thing, just not what I would look for in a car of that caliber.

Viper ACR

Awesome vehicle owning many track records around the world. At around $150k (I'd doubt you find one at that), it's a value (a bit mythical). However, it is miserable to drive for any period of time. Contrast that with the GTR. It's a solid daily driver that I can spot as many as 3-5 on my commute home and will come relatively close to the ACR on the track.....I can also find a used one with low miles easily at around $75k. ACRs are unicorns.

Is this on street legal tires? If so, what are they? I'd say they are more impressive then the engine.

Yea. The GTRs engine is built in a sealed chamber by hand. You don't know what your talking about. This isn't the same as you boyfriends Altima

Yes, they are street legal tires. The promo video calls them "Drag Radials".... they have some cool slo-mo shots of the radials. Speaker claims it is the first production car in history to come equipped w drag radials

Demon Promo Video

I love American muscle cars so i would buy and drive this in a heartbeat.
