It's not the standing up people don't like, its standing up and trying to rush to the front of the plane.

You know, I'm honestly impressed on how many things you're completely wrong about on this forum.
That kind of dedication should be commended.

Sometimes I just stand up and hold my ground so the idiots in back of me don’t bum rush my wife and kids for no reason.

Bc people with no carry on luggage in the upper compartment will 100% cut to the front.
Standing asserts your dominance to them.

Some folks are having back issues
Not necessarily back issues for me, but just all-around stiffness. Whether I have been sitting on a plane or a desk for 2 hours straight, I need to get up and move around a bit.

Anytime you have a random group of people there’s always several jackasses in the group.

Been sitting for 1 to 3 hrs and just need to stand up.

I stand up and immediately get in the aisle so I can stretch my legs, but more importantly you aren’t cutting in front of me unless you plan on climbing over the seat backs like Spider-Man

when I fly and I am in the Aisle seat, when the light goes off I stand up - usually my back is killing me, and standing up helps - if others don't like it - that is a them problem.

exact mindset that has made air travel such a miserable experience

on Monday, saw a mom that got out of her aisle seat and sent her 6 year old kid from the center seat to the bathroom after the pilot had instructed the flight attendants to buckle in for landing. The seatbelt sign had been on for several minutes after he had already announced our descent. I was really hoping the kid would be stuck in the bathroom when the plane landed. But, he made it back about 45 seconds before wheels hit the ground.

I stand up to stretch my legs. But then I wait patiently until all the rows before me deplane. I think no one has a problem with standing it’s the rushing to be the first off the plane. Those people hate me because they have to wait their turn like they should

I don’t have a dog in this fight but I am legit interested in the reasoning.
I have noted a group of people who detest folks who stand up when the plane gets to the gate and the seatbelt sign goes off. Why does it bother you?
In my mind, if it helps them get off the plane faster I am all for it. I would prefer to save my hate for the people who frick around for a minute while everyone else is waiting to deplane.
Tell me why. I am curious.
InB4 - You fly commercial?
I have been flying commercial since I was 7 years old. My dad worked for American Airlines.
Whenever I can, I book an aisle seat and stand up as soon as they turn off the seat belt sign, get my stuff out of the overhead, and am prepared to move forward as soon as the line starts to move.
I will pause for people in front of me to exit their rows, but if they hesitate for even an instant, I go.
Why do I do this? As a courtesy to the people behind me who may have connections to make.
Also - if you snooze you lose. He who hesitates is lost. Etc., etc.
I cannot stand people who are unprepared.

I packed my carry-on when they told everyone to prep for landing 12,000 feet ago. You can wait with all the people that are shocked when they get to the gate and have to start collecting their crap.
The cluelessness of some people astounds me. The same thing happens when they are at the front of the line at a traffic light. They are never prepared to move when the light turns green.

Let's say I'm on an Airbus 321, 3x3 & I'm in the aisle. I'm standing up for a few reasons. I hate sitting on a plane. Next it's to give some space for the person in the middle & window seat to stretch out before they stand. And finally, it's to block folks behind me to allow those people in the middle & window seat to get out & grab their stuff.
This is the best explanation yet.
I view it as a courtesy to my fellow passengers.
Apparently, some of them don't see it the same way.
Those people can go frick themselves.

How else am I supposed to crop dust the d-bag behind me who was kicking my seat the whole flight …duh!

The plane should be deplaned in the same order it was boarded
Don’t understand why it’s so orderly to get on but chaos to get off
(I understand WHY it’s orderly to get on but why can’t it be the same thing go get off?)
And I’m an anxious, claustrophobic flyer that does not check a bag or bring more than a small carry on with me - but I will wait until everyone is off to get off the plane bc I hate being smashed and pushed from behind
