I don't get sick very often. Good Nurses can make my life so much better but they are fewer and farther between. Most goods ones move out of the ER after a while or go on to CRNA or NP school

If you are a doc in the south cut the RNs some slack. They are underpaid, overworked and definitely under appreciated.

I have tried bringing this up before. I just get told that the cost of living is different and that is why nurses in the South are paid so crappy

Drink the bile of rattlesnakes. It's high in anti-oxidants.

Also flu shots are MANDATORY now where I work at so maybe that helps? And we wear masks/gowns/gloves for any patients that are sick.
that is a lie. No one can make shots mandatory. Its against the law. They can however make your wear a mask

The other hospital I worked at made it mandatory, if you didn't get the flu shot by a certain day you got a 7 day notice to get it or you were no longer employed. I know this because I had coworkers who got the notice by the nursing manager. They came in to work and manager stopped them before they could clock in to tell them to turn around and go home and not return unless they got the flu shot.

my nurse friend (who gave me a flu shot last year)basically told me it's a dead virus.sounded legit....didn't do a thing to me except i didn't get the flu

Do masks really work? I thought that the airborne germ particles were microscopic enough to pass through a mask.

actually very few contagions are actually strictly 'airborne' lime carried by the wind or through air vents, most virus like the cold or flu is transferred through air droplets which while can travel through the air their range is still very limited.

Cocaine and meth obviously.

Cost of living be damned....the pay for nurses in the south is abysmal and the working conditions are even worse...

While my father was hospitalized several times this year, the nursing assistants were amazing with the care that they gave him.
The nurses did as well but, they were so overworked much of the time.
The doctors generally were jerks.

I wash my hands and don't touch my face when I am at the office.
I work an average of 60 hrs per week, eat less healthy than I recommend my to my patients and as a result am a little overweight, average only 4-5 hrs of sleep per night and can easily skip a night of sleep once every 2 weeks, drink caffeine in the form of coffee and diet coke like it is the life force, drink alcohol several times per week but rarely more than 2 drinks per day, shower daily, brush my teeth twice daily at a minimum, don't smoke, and don't use drugs.
I attend church regularly, make my sons practices, games, and other events, love on my wife, hunt or fish nearly weekly, and enjoy strenuous outdoor activities like clearing land, lawn maintenance, building fences, splitting wood etc.
I do get sick occasionally if I sit down and stop to think about it but I rarely allow myself time for being sick and just push right through and ignore the symptoms.

no they have to make you use the mask. They can not force anything into your body without your consent.

They are not technically forcing you. You don't have to get the shot....you just will no longer work there. Trust me, I argued this with employee health when I worked there and went to get my flu shot...and was told my options were to get the shot and keep my job or not get the shot and find another job. And like I said....I knew coworkers that were sent home because they didn't get the shot. They were given 7 days to comply.
Only way to get out of the shot is if you have paperwork signed from your doctor saying you cannot receive the vaccination due to medical reasons, then that person had to wear a mask.

This was the hospital I worked for. Their mandatory flu shot policy has been in effect for a few year now.

they fooled you. Its against the law and if fired, a lawsuit would be filed immediately

I've always poo-pooed on people that swore the flu shot made them sick. Used to get it annually cuz it was easier than fighting admins/ wearing masks all the damn time.
But
Got the shot last year after skipping it for 2 years, and I woke up next morn with low fever (about 100) and body aches so severe I would stretch to the point of cramping.
It fricking sucked, but only lasted till 600mg of Advil shut it down...about 20-30 mins.
