Unfortunately once he has that on his record, he will have a lot of red tape to go through to get it lifted. It becomes a liability issue for his PCD

I was thinking this, but they were eating at the time. I also thought blood pressure, but it would have checked out when they took his vitals.

Maybe he was really, really sleepy. Plus drinking three beers knocked him the frick out.

I agree and we tried to convince him to go to the hospital but he said he would go get checked out in the morning. I don't love the idea of that but I can't force him to do anything.

Yeah, that's what he's dealing with. He's going on two years now with no more issues and had none prior. It just seems kind of shitty.

Syncopal episode likely caused by a cardiac arrhythmia.

Could have had a run of ventricular tachycardia.

Did they hook him up and check his heart?

Blank stare seizure it sounds like. Needs to see a neurologist for a brain scan and probably have blood tested for other issues as others have mentioned.

I have epilepsy and before a seizure my heart usually feels like it is beating faster or irregular.

Definitely needs to go see a doctor and have some tests ran. Heck he's 44 probably time for a full on physical anyways.

This seems like the most likely type of answer. Seizures are less likely given he just kinda passed out, wasn't convulsing AND was cognitively normal immediately after the event. Hypoglycemia unlikely Because he was eating.

OP, Your boy needs to visit with a cardiologist for some heart monitors.

I thought it had to be 6 months with no seizure activity but maybe there's other factors

Cataplexy? It's a symptom of narcolepsy. Severe cases can result in a collapsed state for a few minutes.

Agree with AMS and Insee. Likely not cataplexy if pulseless. My first stop would be cardiologist-soon.

I would encourage him to see a cardiologist as well. And get him to ask his family if they have any history of cardiac issues. Some are inherited. It can help with diagnosis.

Sudden Cardiac event. Lucky he was around other people or he probably would have died. Should have gone to the hospital. There is a chance it will happen again. Where were y’all that they didn’t take him to the ER?

The odds he was actually in cardiac arrest are pretty low I’d say. Also, odds someone coming over and doing chest compressions and him being brought back quickly, to where he’s talking and all that is fairly low. Sounds like he bottomed out, seizure, or simply passed out. Could be a cardiac event but him being pulseless is unlikely given your story, I obviously cannot say 100%. I’m a paramedic, the amount of people doing cpr on someone breathing and has a pulse is high

Can’t rule out a cardiac event. I’m JAFERD and he definitely needed to go to the hospital more than most than free Uber by ambulance

Doubt seizure no postictal period. Vasovagal should have improved when he laid down. ROSC after CPR

Back in mid 1990’s I was out with the boys at a club. Just got my 3rd Crown and cola standing near the mixer and manager for the band.

Next thing I knew I was being held around the waist from behind by the biggest guy in our group and my glass was broken on the floor about 2 feet in front of us.

Buddies said I just suddenly dropped my drink and passed out but their reflexes were fast enough to catch me before hitting the floor saving injury and messed up clothes. I came to just before the bartender connected to 911 for an amber lamps so he hung up. (Turns out was still a good call as about the time cops showed over 911 hang up about 3 fights were starting).

Never got checked out and never happened again. Was enough for me to slow down the rest of the night though. Dad did have heart problems (a fib, hbp, copd, chf) but even now with my pancreas literally killing me zero heart problems.

Your heart will begin racing due to low blood pressure. It happened to me about 6 months ago. I did not become incoherent though. I spent the night in ICU. They can test your blood to see if you had a heart attack.
In a medical emergency the first thing you always do is get the ambulance on the way.

Is this when you are taking a dump and get real lightheaded for a bit and then you are fine again?

Is this dangerous?
