OT Doctors/EMTs a few questions

I was involved in a very scary situation tonight. I was out with 2 friends eating and watching the football game, and one of my friends slumps over the table without warning.
At first my other buddy and I thought he might be silently choking and we just didn't notice. I performed the Heimlich maneuver on him and checked his mouth for an obstruction and found nothing. We called 911, and another person ran over that had some medical training. They laid him down on the floor and began doing chest compressions. His eyes were open, but he was not responding. I thought I was watching my friend die in front of me. Then all of a sudden he came back to, and seemed fine. He knew where he was and didn't seem hazy at all. When the EMTs arrived they spoke with him, and took his vitals (I guess?) and then let him go. They did not take him to the hospital or in the ambulance.
I am trying to research what happened and it seems like possibly a seizure, but he wasn't convulsing or anything like that and has not prior history of epilepsy.
Any ideas on what happened or what could be wrong? It was one of the scariest things I have ever seen. Thanks in advance.

I am almost positive 99% sure that he is not on any illegal drugs. We had been drinking some (3 beers or so and it was with dinner)

There’s several questions I have.
Did he have a pulse? I assume no, because starting compressions
Response to any stimulus?
Focal motor seizures can have signs and symptoms that you stated.

I don't know if he had a pulse or not. I kind of think that he did but the person that came to help maybe just didn't find it so they began chest compressions?
He had no response to anything until he just seemed to come out of it.
Ill do some research on focal motor seizure. Thank You

What did he say afterwards? Did he remember any of it?

He was completely coherent afterwards. Knew who he was, who we were, where we were etc.
He just remembers waking up on the floor , but he said right before it happened his heart began racing and git light headed. After that he woke up on the floor.

Arrhythmia? Syncopal episode .

the only time this exact scenario happened to me; the girl was hypoglycemic. You have to rub sugar in their mouth. small frostings worked best to squirt in.

That’s weird. Seizures are a weird thing. Feeling his heart racing, that definitely throws another red flag for me. Sudden Cardiac Arrest comes to mind. Heart arrhythmias can happen. But wondering what may be his underlying conditions.

I've been wondering this, but haven't really thought about making a thread here to ask.
I work with a guy who had a seizure in late 2019. It was the first, and only, one he has ever had. He actually was driving when it happened, but he said he "felt weird" and pulled off the road right before he had it. He came to and called his girlfriend to come get him and take him to the hospital.
She did, and they checked him out and referred him to his primary care doctor. Well, his doc almost immediately put a hold on or pulled his driver's license.
The guy hasn't had a seizure since, but he's been struggling through a bunch of BS trying to get the restriction off of his license. Now, this is mostly all his story, though alot of the medical stuff has been backed up because it caused issues with him being able to get to work for a while before he could make arrangements.
How long can a doctor keep a hold or restriction on his license like that if he hasn't had anymore issues?
OP, I hope your friend will get checked out. Just make sure the folks he lives with know to keep an eye on him for a while, at least.

He mentioned to us that his dad has some blood sugar issues. He had also not eaten today. This was his first meal of the day

Could have been Intermittent Complete Heart Block.I’ve seen that before, heart rate drop into 30’s,BP drops and person loses consciousness. If heart rate returns to normal, they wake up and seem normal.
In any event,he should have gone to ER.He needs to be evaluated asap.
Same thing happened to an old guy in Sunday School few months ago, similar scenario.Old fool didn’t want to go to hospital,I insisted but he refused to let us call ambulance.Drove him there,he did it again on way to hospital.
He got a pacemaker couple days later.
