Was having a debate with a couple buddies of mine who all have girlfriends, and they were shocked when I told them that me and my gf of 5 months haven't said I love you yet. Personally, I think people say I love you too casually and it has sort of lost its reverence, so I believe if I feel that strongly then I will say it. Just curious how long into some of you guys relationships yall waited to say it.

And no pics, sorry guys if that's a deal breaker.

TIA

I said it on my wedding night. I believe in waiting for marriage.

You love when you love. You don't say it until then.

But to be frank, 5 months is a long time for a girl. She is probably freaking out inside her mind as to why you don't love her yet.

The question is how long until you knew, I understand that you say it when you feel it. But I also feel like today society has downgraded those words a bit and it gets tossed around a lot in early relationships, so timing can sometimes indicate that. Not always, clearly there are plenty of cases of people knowing their significant other is the one in a short amount of time, I realize that.

I have this friend...8 years with a guy; not married. No I love you from him-she says it all the time.

I think it was around six weeks for current gf and I. Things moved fast. She'd been living with me for a month at the time. Looking back, it could have been much longer had we not already spent so much time together. Making her wait five months, however, would have probably driven her nuts.
That being said, everyone is different, and couples have different types of relationships. There's no set time. You know when you know.

If by actions you mean only allowing her over to his house on the weekends then maybe so.

There's obviously a different dynamic in that relationship. But that doesn't mean he doesn't love her, some guys just never say it even when they feel it I guess.

Met my wife a week before going home for the summer after sophomore year. We spent every weekend together that summer (lived 1 1/2 hours apart). It slipped out during one of the goodbyes after a weekend about 6 weeks in. She said it back so it was all good.
