During my morning walk I pass a house that has dogs. Recently, there has been an unchained brindle pitbull that has been coming into the road, barking, snarling and being very aggressive towards me. It doesn't have a collar on and I don't even know if it's the house owner's dog. Yesterday it was far more aggressive to the point that it charge me a couple of times, but back down when I stood ground. Seriously, can I shoot it, or kill by other means, with no recourse?

not unless it attacks you. Who do you think you are? A cop?

Why not just walk a different route that doesn't pass that house. Seems like an unnecessary risk.

That's pretty scary, especially if you think about a kid walking past that house.

Carry a can of citronella spray with you - one that is specially formulated for dogs and can shoot at a distance, similar to a can of wasp spray. If you don't want to do that, carry a spray bottle of water mixed with vinegar.

Most likely, if you ignore the dog - establish very little eye contact and keep going about your business, nothing will happen.

IF you fear for your life, then by all means shoot it.

That's kind of subjective. Ultimately, if you can lawfully carry and felt "threatened", you can get away with it.

But I wouldn't expect it to be without hassle. Either from the owners, neighbors, or cops.

a quick call to animal control will fix both of those issues and might fix the whole problem with disposing of it.

shite in a plastic bag - throw plastic bag of shite at said house with a note in it about what you intend to do to said dog. The end.

FYI (from a friend who works at an emergency vet clinic and sees many dogs that have been shot) - a handgun round doesn't have the effect on a big dog that you think it will. He says they come in all the time shot up, often by police, and aren't even critically injured. They are tough animals and if you think one or two rounds not in the brain are going to stop them you are probably wrong.

Yeah! Alter your lifestyle for an irresponsible pit bull owner!

Serious suggestion: Report it to animal control before it kills a child.

Call animal control and read them your post verbatim, minus the last sentence.

Better than getting attacked by a dog that you have seen to be agressive
