He was at a gas station… He had just finished pumping gas and went to go throw something away in a nearby trashcan. When he came back, some dude was in the drivers seat. He showed my relative a gun that he was holding on his lap but it wasn't pointing at my relative and asked for the keys. The keys were in his pants or hoodie but he couldn't find them quick so he took off. The dude then ran out of the car and got into a nearby car that was waiting and they sped off

Jesus.

What time?

I’m also in the attempted category this year, unfortunately.

Was told to get out of the car, and respectfully declined via gas pedal to the floor

Did they show you a gun or anything?

was he cordial?

He was rather impolite.

Given the circumstances of 4 people and an SUV blocking the road failing to obtain my vehicle, I think his name calling and insults were better suited for his colleagues.

They use the stolen cars to commit other crimes

Are the vehicles generally found within a few days or sent to some chop shop? Otherwise what's the motivation? Just strip it in a more controlled environment?

They are looking for one used in an interstate shooting according to today’s news.

I believe OP was trying to do some high level correlation, which is a bit misleading but not entirely incorrect.

8 at this point in 2021, 218 murders in total.

19 at this point (over 2.3x increase) in 2022 would be ~517 if the trend continues.
.

That’s fair. Lies, damn lies and statistics, right?

I'm okay with this. Save the limited resources for violent crime. But that ain't happening either.
