Yes, because contrary to popular belief, school is not that difficult.

I'll say if schools are so bad they require mental health breaks, time to rethink the whole educational system.

I take random PTO days when I’m over stressed and want to play golf or lounge around the house. I get a lot of PTO though.

Na, I work in finance
(which I equally don’t take many days off, but the rare occasion I do, i still get paid)

Yeah, my impression off of the thread was that this is university level.

Reading into this though, it doesn’t give students additional days off. It merely removes the limitation of requiring a handwritten note from the doctor to allow the absence to be excused.

Not really seeing your point. What does it matter if it's abused? Why do you care what some high school kids in Oregon do?

B/c he runs a small business (good for him, I hope he is doing well) and doesn't take days off. Therefore, nobody should take days off.

Because we’ve already got enough stupid people in this country as it is.

Wait...most of the stupid people are products of our public school system. We fricked.

An overwhelming majority of them are not in high school.

Question I have is if they're giving out free days off of school then why does the school year run long because of snow days?

I understand what a snow day is. I loved when we had free snow days. In house teacher crap etc has taken away from that.

Just seems strange to offer 5 days for free yet if it snows 1 day they extend the school year. Just call it.

Because it’s one of the most arbitrary things I’ve read all week.

Made even more reductious how many comparisons made between working adults and students in this thread.

Seems like they are equitable only when it’s convenient. Otherwise they are just snot nosed little brats that need to earn the ability to get a day off.

Arbeit macht frei.

High school is not so difficult that a kid should need a “mental health” day.

Surely you are not this stupid.

I view it analagous to companies ditching sick time and just lumping vacation and sick into PTO days under the same umbrella.

Far fewer people call "sick" into work.

My son had perfect attendance until midway through 7th grade.

His entire football team got the flu from sharing Gatorade bottles.

I cringe when I see trainers giving players a drink from shared bottles on the sidelines. Even all these years later. Even at LSU games
