I'd probably just go and surf TD while I was there. It'd be interesting to see if this boss requires some sort of participation.

What employee doesn't have to attend BS meetings during the week?

If it was made clear that this was part of the job before he accepted it and he still accepted it, yes. If it were me, I'd be sitting there making lists in my head, but I'd still be there.

Even if it wasn't originally part of the job, if the owner decides that it is now, then it is now. Unless there's an employment contract specifically saying otherwise.

Yeah....that's not how federal employment laws work....

The correct answer, but the local idiots won't recognize it as such
Don't like it, don't take the fricking job... end of debate

There's these little rules all employers have to follow called EEOC's....it's amazing how clueless the average employee is about there rights private or public company.

I'd be pissed too, but I also feel like a private company should have that right.
I feel like a for profit business does have the right to express and practice its beliefs (see the hobby lobby supreme court case) but I find it hard to believe that it's okay for a private for profit business to discriminate against an employee based on religion.

He didn’t discriminate. The Bible is non-denominational and it was a condition of employment

He played this all wrong. What he should have done was start practicing a different religion at the same time, get fired for that. Much bigger lawsuit.

the dude should have held satanic rituals at work and scheduled it right after bible study.
Posted on 8/30/18 at 4:20 pm to Sasquatch26
So what specifically would prevent an employer from deciding to start incorporating bible study into the work day?

There are Christians in Oregon? I'll be damned.
