By this logic an employer can force an employee to do anything they wanted.

Some of the people in this thread are idiots. This guy is going to win this lawsuit and probably make some bank too. The owner is about to have the EEOC all up his arse too.

if they’re paying me then yes. If my employer told me to stop my normal business and go clean a toilet guess what,I am going clean a toilet. As long as I’m getting paid.

ETA this is all my opinion and how I would handle it if it were me. .

If he took the job knowing this is a requirement the employer should be able to fire him. If this is a new requirement of the job it may very well be discrimination.
