Heard her on XM this morning actually. She told the story of when, in the 1970’s, she went out in Hollywood for Halloween dressed as herself. At the urging of friends, she entered the Dolly Parton lookalike contest in a bar and lost to a trans cross dresser.

All of this. She has always been very pretty, and also overall a very sweet person.
My dad knew her when her career was just starting out, and always said she was just a wonderful person to be around.
What she has done for east Tennessee has really transformed that area.

Definitely a looker back in the day, and is holding up well as she's aged.

Smart too. She was one of the first to land a song with Elvis and not surrender a cut of the publishing royalties as was the custom then. Made her million$ over the years.
