So tell me why a NFL player who is black and making millions a year should care about a black crack head killing another black crack head.

I'm all ears.

Also, the part in his letter about education is completely bullshite. The environment of public schools usually reflect the environment of the areas they are in. Is this an accurate statement?

In order for a school to offer something that might not be offered at others is the amount of interest the students have in a specific class. Plus, justifiably, it is difficult to attract teachers to teach at these schools.

The value of education that is received in poorer areas have nothing to do with one race trying to hold down another. Its not like majority black schools get less state resources because the school consist of more blacks. The problem begins at home. So don't blame white people on the fact many of these kids have parents who don't get a frick about them and offers no support to them, etc.

Keep in mind this doesn't represent the mindset of all blacks, but what's funny is that you never hear from the black people who have different opinions that people like this jackass who wrote this letter. I am not saying all of this in a blanket statement because I know it doesn't apply to every single black person, but its these idiots who are spreading BS to create hate.. They need to be called out.. For some reason people would rather give them a voice and go along with any bullshite they are preaching about than to have a realistic conversation about... well whats real.

I understand what you're trying to say, but in the context of this thread you're missing the point. The concept of the "black community" is ridiculous, I agree, but when you have an organization called "Black Lives Matter" which is supposedly designed to address the mistreatment of black people at the hands of the state, you should take up your issue with them. They made it about the entire race. They're not focused on white victims or poor victims, only black victims.

That's also why I have a problem with the term "black community." It's a misnomer

You might, but I would be willing to bet you are in the minority. "Black community" is a term that seems to originate from actual black communities because they feel that other races don't understand the issues they deal with.

Are you saying it was a label placed on them by the rest of society?

And how else do you refer to a certain segment of society that for the most part has different social and societal norms?

Two possible reasons:

1.) Most of us who deign to have a different opinion work for a living like our productive counterparts of all other races in society. Don't have time to get to the bottom of every barrel of crazy

2.) Those of us who do disagree with the prevailing liberal black narrative usually get screeched at by other black people even worse than "whitey." It's happened to me on these boards plenty of times.

Great question.

Why does a group of supposedly "law abiding, peaceful" black people (Black Lives Matter),
Care about a convicted felon who was illegally selling cds, pointing a weapon at people, and resisting arrest while armed?

Because, more than you would like to admit, the majority of black people feel ostracized by the rest of society and feel that the system is working against them.

The million dollar athlete wasn't always a millionaire. Chances are they grew up in poverty.

Are there exceptions? Of course. There are always exceptions. But we can't have a productive conversation if every argument is null and void because of an exception to the rule.

I know I'm in the minority. Sticking to my guns on it though. The term needs to go the way of the dodo because it's an inaccurate representation.

I understand it's origins, my issue is when "black communities" are merged into one and applied across the board, regardless of individual backgrounds.

quote:

No. That's what irks me. Black people refer to ourselves as one homogeneous "community," which is bunk. I don't have anything tangible in common with some random person in Michigan just because he happens to be black, same as a white guy from FL doesn't share some bond with a white dude in Wisconsin due solely to their skin color.

It's a silly notion, especially in this day and age. Does a piss poor job of framing social issues.

I realize it's a pet peeve of mine, though.

The issue is just black crime. It makes up the majority. It's as simple as that.

It doesn't make up the majority.

Black people commit damn near half of the crime in the USA.

Black people make up about 13% of the population of the USA.

when an eighth of your population is committing half of the crime, it is a very noticeable stat.

Per capita, they commit well over the majority (50%) of crime.
