172 is the only aircraft I’ve flown. My choice is born out of ignorance and nostalgia

I get it.
Most GA aircraft, and their engines, are 50's tech.
There are better options.

Remember : the cheapest part of buying an airplane is buying the plane.

Most "6 place" non-turbine or non-turbcharged airplanes will indeed seat 6 people.

Don't plan on carrying any luggage or more than enough fuel to get you to the next airport.

Once you get 6 adults in the plane. Your useful load is pretty much covered.

what area does your shop service? My prices were just estimates. It is less than $25,000 a year.

just because it might have that many seats doesn't mean you'd want to stuff that many in it, lots of older piston singles are more reasonably priced than you might think

I bought a used Citation Ultra for my boss a couple of years ago for $1.7M which was a great price. Now the cost to keep that thing in the air is ridiculous.

I may be looking for another aircraft mechanic. Ours just went out of business. Any way to contact?

I bought a used Bonanza. It's been great. The more people you have in a plane the less the availability. I was in a group with a Mooney. It was great when we had 3. Hard to just go out and fly when it grew to 6

Commander 500s. Tough as nails and can carry a lot of weight. Cost about $250,000 for a fully restored one. I have been flying in them and an 840 most of my life. Never let me down

My point is, most six place aircraft that are not a turbine (jet) or at least turbo-charged will not carry 6 adults with luggage and full fuel.

Notice I said "useful load" in my original post.

Go spend $1.5 million on a new Baron. Very nice 6 place aircraft. Put 6 adults at 200 lbs per arse. Load all their luggage. Fill those tanks full. Pick a nice warm, sunny day. Take off.

You'll be lucky if they don't scrape your overloaded arse out of the bushes about 100 yards off the end of the runway.

Useful load is what your aircraft can actually carry safely. Very few normally aspirated 6 place aircraft can carry 6 adults, luggage and fuel.

Beechcraft Baron...useful load 1559 lb

I dont think a turbo helps that much in that instance.
It does help when you want to cruise at higher altitude where there is less oxygen.
