I dont think a turbo helps that much in that instance.
It does help when you want to cruise at higher altitude where there is less oxygen.

This is actually true.

I see your point now.

I should have said turboprop. As in King Air or Royal Duke.

My dad would say of some of the piston twins was single engine performance with twice the chance for engine failure.

A lot of pilots are like offshore fisherman, they equate two engines to safety and redundancy in an emergency.
That is probably true out in the gulf if a motor konks out.
The problem is a lot of pilots are not skilled enough to control a twin engine plane if one engine konks out.

Thays exactly what turbo piston aircraft are for
High altitude flying. We have a turbo 206 and NA 206. Sea level performance is the same between them but the turbo 206 has a ceiling of '20,000. The NA 206 '13,000

Interesting stuff guys. My failure to participate does not mean I am not paying attention, or picking up a lot of good stuff. Thanks to everyone for their input. My number of 6 passengers was a WAG of potential needs, not an everyday need.

I’ve been flying a 1981 Cessna 152. Paint job looks like crap but she flies great.

Just get a 172. Plenty on the market and a six seater with decent performance is just too pricey.

Used is always the way to go unless you expect ridiculously high utilization like a flight school or 135 charter operation.

what area does your shop service? My prices were just estimates. It is less than $25,000 a year

Unfortunately I'm not based an an airport but a private heliport with a seaplane ramp and no runway. Were so busy right now we aren't taking outside maintenance on anything, but I do know a few wrenches at KNEW that are good people.

My FIL had a six place Piper Lance. It was pretty slick and wouldn’t break the bank to own and fly.

Also it would carry a full load and fuel...but my in laws are smaller people. We were coming back from a wedding in NY fully loaded in the summer and he used the whole runway on a modest sized field to get off the ground.
