Have my concealed carry license and the only time I open carry is using a chest holster when on a motorcycle .

A quick google search will show you that there have been several instances where people open carrying have been robbed of their firearm, so carrying it as a deterrent doesn’t always work.
You can find an instance of anything happening several times. Except it’s impossible to ever know when a crime was prevented by deterrence.

They're pretty much worthless.
Hide your guns around other humans, you'll be safer. Carry openly when not around other humans.

all carrying is legal according to the constitution, it's all up to preference
each way has it's pros and cons
open carry does have the intimidation factor, but that can turn you into a target

Agreed. I don't want anyone to know that I'm armed. I think it's fine if you live in some little rural town or something but I wouldn't walk around BR with a gun on my side.

They’re worthless or they’re a deterrent, but they’re not a target. Criminals aren’t going to seek out openly armed targets.

Mass shooter walks into building
Sees fat guy with a .45 on his waist
headshots fat guy first
Shoots everyone else after

That’s exactly what the shooter at the grocery in Buffalo, NY planned to do… target armed security first. However, the fact that he knew it was unlikely for anybody else to be armed is why he chose that as his target.
Needing to use a firearm for defense is rare already, but it doesn’t stop us from carrying. Just because the possibility of being targeted for open carrying might be rare, it’s still not a great idea.

Oooooooook.
Didn't think this through, did you?
1. You gave the bad guys a nice big notice on who is armed. IF a thug is intent on killing someone, he going to take you out first.
2. Nice of you to carry $600 on your hip in full display for everyone. Shiiiimufuggashiiii. I'm strapped and I see you with that gun on your waist, well, that's some easy money for me. Gun to your head and presto, you give me that gun, I walk out, sell it for a few hundred in the hood. Good job.

I think a more likely scenario is that someone targets you to steal your gun.

Robber walks into a convenience store.
Sees fat guy with a .45 on his waist.
Walks back out of the convenience store.
Crackhead loitering at a gas station.
Walks towards fat guy filling up.
Sees .45 on fat guy’s waist.
Goes no closer to fat guy.

if there is a cultcha chil’ in the gas station about to rob it and your in line he’s likely shooting you in the back.
I have never, ever, once, in 57 years, ever heard of this happening to anyone.
Is this where we are now, preparing for the least likely events? I mean, if that were the case, shouldn't we all be going around with safety helmets and knee and elbow pads just because, "you never know what may happen"? You can never be too safe.

Today I learned that a store with an armed security guard and armed shoppers is a more appealing target for criminals. Fascinating

Any law to restrict any firearm or weapon or any law to restrict the weapon’s ability to have automatic fire capability is a gross assault on the second amendment.
So we should be able to bring fully automatic machine guns into court, legislative assemblies and schools?
