My goodness, why does people exercising their legal right upset you ? Make your own choice and leave others to make their own.
Restaurants and stores don't want people openly carrying around here (yes, even Walmart).
I don't know why that upsets you.

....on a more serious note, why in the hell would you allow anyone to know you're carrying?
Maybe so people don't frick around.

That dude has issues. "Carrying concealed means you submitted to the government!"

Yet some people will still frick around.
There are some good reasons for open carry, but there are more risks associated with it compared to carrying concealed.
Ultimately, if you choose to open carry, you should make sure it’s in a holster with at least some level of retention and always maintain a HIGH level of situational awareness.

I never said that it upset me. If a private business doesn't allow firearms then so be it. I will either patronize another business or go and lock the gun in the car. Do you now see how choosing what works best for yourself and not worrying about others works ? I doubt that you do though, as you sound like the type of person who spends a lot of time at Walmart .

Open carry if you want to, but it’s a pretty terrible tactical decision. I haven’t read all 10 pages of this thread but the best argument I’ve seen so far is “it probably won’t matter”. Not a very strong argument for open over concealed.

Only a dozen or more posted this before you, but keep being original and edgy it suits you.

Enjoy being victim number 1 in a shooting situation.
There's obviously some truth to this, but I think it's extremely overblown to the point where people think it's some sort of argument-ending statement.
1. I would argue that in most shooting situations, especially mass shootings, shooters are not scanning the space to pick out threats. Hell, most of these people are high as frick when they're doing this.
2. No matter what you think, there is a level of deterrence in seeing that gun. Most people are looking for easy victims that won't fight back. Having a gun strapped to your hip 100% makes you a less likely target.
Again, open carry isn't my thing, but to say it's nothing but a disadvantage is just flat out absurd.

I’ve been carrying open now for a few weeks and find it to be liberating. I don’t strap it to my forehead or otherwise make it obvious but just tuck it into the holster on the belt. It’s obvious but not overt.
(In my opinion) Open carry is the single dumbest thing you can do in terms of self-preservation.

Your opinion is the single dumbest thing I have read in this thread. However, I support your right to that opinion though.

All that does is make people around you nervous automatically.

Correct, It creates additional problems because pepe cannot come to grips with seeing firearms in society

I defer to upgrayedd's 9:22 AM post below and above:

So it is like Sigmund Freud said, "A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity"

Access is 100% an issue. The problem is that the overwhelming majority of people that CC don't practice defeating their cover and drawing. Open carry vastly increases grip quality/consistency which, in turn, vastly increases hit probability.

You said it makes you a target. That sounds like deterrence to me (which you said isn't the case, in fact the exact opposite).

I OC frequently and want to re-emphasize this part, a retention holster is mandatory, though it's not a replacement for being aware of what/who's around you. The fantasy of someone sneaking up behind you to take your sidearm means you failed situational awareness and

always maintain a HIGH level of situational awareness.
I'd go so far as to say that if you're walking around in Condition White you shouldn't be carrying AT ALL
