The songs particularly How do you do? and Zip-pe-de-do-dah(which won a grammy iirc). The latter of which was always featured prominently on singalongs and Disney promotional materials.

Also Uncle Phil played Brer Frog

Admittedly nostalgia too I first rode it when I was seven and it left indelible memories with my family.

Thats such a hilarious Louisiana specific gripe. I agree with this though and now that you pointed it out, it will bother me from now on.

It drives me nuts.

My grandma had a VHS copy of Song of the South and I watche dit many times. I also hold nostalgia for it. I guess it was my son going before they changed it and realizing he had zero clue who any of those characters were and my daughters love of Tianna that softened the blow of the change for me.

IIRC They are closer to doughnuts than beignets.

The ones they serve in Port Orleans are closer to the real thing than the ones they sell by the ride.

We watched the movie and sang the songs all the time as kids in the 90s. I think uncle Remus got an Oscar for his performance as well(again from memory the first black man to win one). This reframing as some racist relic of the past is typical regressive slop. My kids still love the ride and the princess and the frog(also great music) but I still bitch and we've been three times since they changed it.

I remeber trying to find a video on Youtube to show my son who the characters were and that movie has been fully scrubbed from the internet. Its pretty crazy.

Your thought process is unhinged, and then excusing a spouse's shithead behavior on account of it and blaming the wife is just the icing on the cake.

Thats good. I may be thinking of the Disney Cruise Beignets being closer to donuts. I wonder if its a supply issue. Trying to cut down on an ingredient needing to be ordered and stored. "Just use the donut dough and cut it into squares. Only the Louisiana guests will know the difference."

Its funny that every argument you make can easily be turned and made toward you.

It is ONE thing and YOU will be alright taking them once.

The reason I am a little pushy about it is becuase kids that don't go until they are teens or adults miss the magic window and at that point, it IS just an expensive theme park. Its the magic that makes it worth it and there is a finite time that that magic exists. Don't miss out becuase your stubborn.

It’s an inevitability that I’ll go at some point I’m sure. And contrary to what people in this thread think, I am capable of putting a happy face on and putting up with it because that’s what we’re supposed to do.

I think me saying I understand why some men act like miserable pricks after being dragged there made them think thats how I personally would act

I may be a hard headed prick but I know you don’t ruin anyone else’s good time when you’re there. Especially your family

Atta boy. Don't wait until your kids are too old. If you hit the magic years, the place will fill them with joy every time they return later in life.

And when you do go, start a thread and me and others will tell you all the tips and tricks to make it a great trip.

I never said I personally can’t do it. Just that I understood why some men don’t.
