Disney World is one of those places you go once, experience it and go somewhere else next time. This country has so many interesting and fun places to visit that it seems foolish to limit your vacation plans to the same place every time.

There is more in the Orlando area than one could do in a lifetime that kids would enjoy as much or more than Disney that are far cheaper. My kids, niece and her daughter enjoyed dirty old Gatorland far more than Disney. It would cost a family of 4 $120 to get in today.

Just went to Disney last month, did a quick 3 night trip, did all 4 parks. Stayed onsite in the family suite at all star music since it was 6 of us.

$3300 for tix
$1150 for the room
$900 for airfare (Spirit lol)

None of this is counting food, some souvenirs, uber to and from the airport. This was a discounted off-season time. Going back to Universal and SeaWorld later this summer for an entire week.

I don’t feel so bad about my spring break trip to Turks and Caicos now.

In fairness, this argument is totally fine if we are clowning Disney Adults, but certainly you understand why children/families would value doing it at least once

I understand that, we did it with our kids until they discovered universal was a lot more fun

We took our kids every year from when they were 5 or 6 year old, and back then it was very manageable if you did it right.
Nowadays you are correct. It’s 7-8 k which is ridiculous

I constantly see people that I know that can't afford the trip taking their grand kids as well. I guess people just put it on the credit card and pay it off by 2030

Out of curiosity how do you "know" their personal finances?

Have you been recently? Yeah, it's expensive, but doesn't seem to stop plenty of trashy looking people from dropping the cash to go

My wife said to me when we were sitting in a restaurant, "I wish everyone had to wear their occupation on their shirt."

We were at a Character Dining buffet restaurant in HS that was $60 per person before drinks. I was looking at this crew sitting beside us. It was about 10 of them. Man, this crew looked like it came straight out of the Appalachian Mountains. They were ordering drinks, and one of the Aunts (I'm assuming) just got up and started yelling at one of the guys sitting there. "WHY WOULD YOU MAKE A RESERVATION AT A RESTAURANT THAT'S THIS EXPENSIVE! I'M NOT PAYING FOR THIS shite!!!"

Back in the 90s, I went with my nephew and niece around 10 years old. The thing they enjoyed the most was the swimming pool at the hotel. I remember my brother in law saying...hell, I could've just got a room at the Holiday Inn in Slidell ...

Do really wealthy people go to Disney?

I would have guessed they went to more secluded places.

Really wealthy people rent it out for themselves for a day.

Silver Dollar City was super fun. Also they are opening a mega theme park in Oklahoma.

Roadtrip and see America. Zero chance I’m giving that company any money to subvert my tradition and upbringing. Rocket mountains, blue ridge, mammoth cave, redwoods….not some freak in a costume in a generated wonderland.

You don’t need Disney to experience a good time with kids. That’s my point. Nothing magical about it. Go see the world and experience new and beautiful things without having to fork over a fortune to a corporation that despises you.

It’s why I prefer to go to Disney over Six Flags.
