Everyone with their finger in the pie. We should be downsizing government, not trying to see how to further spend other people's tax dollars to our own benefit. Why not use private solutions?

its obvious you've not had to deal with BR traffic much and seen this problem unfold over the last 20 years
and if you say you have, you're lying

its not just for our own benefit, fixing traffic problems in baton rouge helps the whole i10 corridor and also makes the area a more attractive place for business and residential means
your head is in the fricking clouds

He will be gone in a flash and won't have to deal with New Orleans, Baton Rouge, or Louisiana ever again. The people that believe him are the same idiots that voted for him

Why federal highway funding is no longer necessary. Good analysis done by the CATO Institute:
LINK
The article is not letting me right click and copy to show quotes. It makes the case that federal funding of highways has become an increasingly inefficient way to modernize America's highways. It says "Federal spending is often misallocated to low-value activities, and the regulations that go hand-in-hand with federal aid stifle innovation and boost highway costs."
I think a loop, if built, should be entirely funded and owned by the private sector with a toll charged to recoup costs.

that may be true, but the fact is...you are contributing greatly via federal gas tax and you don't want your state to get any of that money back?
your problem is with the system, but as it stands, you should certainly want to get your share back

1. It probably will never be built
2. All plans have it being paid for by tolls.

My problem is with the system, you are right about that. I also don't want the massive strings that will be attached to any federal aid, especially with this administration.

It'll never be finished in time.

Lol.
That funding was already coming here whether or not Obama noticed that money or even the one lane he saw across the bridge. That funding is part of the fast act that was signed into law last December and JBE has no control over it and where it goes, its done entirely through the federal department of transportation, Obama never oversees stuff like that. So traffic conversations between JBE and Obama probably never happened and JBE likely just lied like hell to LABI to throw out an olive branch.

Being his last words when walking off stage was "Thank You New Orleans", he may get confused on who gets the money.

No bridge, no care
And closing the Washington street exit isn't going to do anything. There is another exit about a 1,000 yards past it. That's where the traffic that is gettin off at Washington would now exit

Well it does give another 1000 yds for traffic to merge.

And you are still gonna have vehicles trying to cross two or three lanes of traffic to get off at Dalrymple from I-110 S/B along with vehicles coming off the bride trying to cross all the way from the right lane into the left lane.
