The points that I made at the press conference were these: kids are not doing well under the current on-line, Zoom paradigm, they’re not getting the education we would like them to have and they’re missing out on socializing with their peers, which, of course, is a big part of the school experience. What followed my statements were comments by some of the other speakers that I felt were divisive and that I want to clearly distance myself from. Specifically, I am addressing the statements that facemasks are of “no value” in limiting viral spread and that hydroxychloroquine “cures” Covid-19 infection. Both of these statements do not reflect scientific data and do not reflect my stand on these issues.
