It's not the canopy, it's the people. Don't go set up in front of someone already set up. Umbrella people will do the same shite. I'm a 10x10 popup guy when rentals aren't available and set up in my own territory. If people move in around me as the day goes along and want to complain about my existence they can suck the yeast off my dawg dick.

I can't imagine going to a beach that isn't reserved exclusively for the guests of whatever hotel I'm staying at.

I've seen some ones recently that say "UV technology" by the logo. How advanced, a canopy that somehow blocks UV rays. Like, it doesn't allow sunlight through. It's incredible what they're doing with science.

Just got back from the beach.
Saw one these and thought about this thread. It does take up twice as much room as everything else on the beach without adding more shade. It does seem pointless. More of a canopy for a remote camping spot. Not for the beach.
Saw one of these and first I thought it was cool looking. But they are freaking loud. It just constantly whips in the wind. If you walk behind it be ready to be popped in the face. Definitely not for kids. I don’t like it.

Bought one to use in Del Mar, CA over the 4th and loved it. Very easy to set up and provided plenty of shade.

Eh, even on private beaches there are still regulations as to how close to the beach you can set these type of things up. Stake your claim early and you can get in front of these assholes. Unfortunately, you can’t prevent Gumps and their cousin/sisters from setting up right on top of you, but you have to just deal with those issues as they present themselves.
