We only have AA, Delta, and United in lafayette so whichever has the best flights out of those. It’s usually United
I think AA has the most connections out of LFY.
I wish Southwest was in BTR, and that United had connections to Newark and O’Hare out of LFY.
I think Spirit would actually do well in BTR or LFY.

I fly with Jesse Duplantis.

I live in ATL, so Delta. Nonstop flights to basically everywhere.

More available destinations? Plus the likelihood of an issue arising is MORE likely to be remediated quicker at a larger hub due to excess aircraft and personnel.
Name a "less busy" airport that has a good amount of destinations available?

Pretty much only fly for vacation travel, never business. As such, our flights are selected based on a descending criteria of (1)direct flight/total travel time; (2) time of departure/arrival; (3) cost.
We've flown just about every major carrier, and out of those we will NEVER again fly United. Had bad experiences with them every time-- always delays (once resulting in an unplanned overnight stay in the connecting city), and delayed/lost luggage.
Alaska and Delta are very nice for longer flights.
I have used both Spirit and Allegiant for short (+/- 2 hrs) direct flights with no problems at all. If you know how to work the system, they are great for a cheap 3-4 day weekend getaway trip-- I just did New Orleans-Pittsburgh this past weekend (caught a Pirates game at PNC Park); round trip was only $118.

SWA is best
I hate ATL too. It’s time Atlanta grew up and got a second airport to take some domestic traffic off of ATL.
In the eighties ATL to MSY was a scheduled 55 minutes now it is 1:35 to account for the time on the tarmac in Atlanta.
A 15 minute thunderstorm delays 100 flights in Atlanta.

American because it’s local so it’s got the most flights out of DFW.

United, because I like it rough. And they upgrade me a lot.

Operationally, Delta is the best. They're my #1 pick.
I like Southwest's legroom, and will fly them if they're convenient (often they're not, such as when I need to fly to Huntsville, AL).
JetBlue and Alaska are good airlines, but I don't fly out of the northeast or to the west coast very often.
American and United seem to have surly employees and are not my preferred choice, unless connecting via Oneworld/Star to a foreign destination.

Alaska and JetBlue
Used to be Virgin, but Alaska's takeover was the next best thing.

I take Amtrak whenever possible. But if there’s no train I’ll fly Delta.

United. More flight options out of IAH and I have status. All of the domestics treat you like shite if you aren't a frequent flyer.

My wife works for JetBlue so I get to fly standby for free anywhere they go
Even forgetting that wonderful perk, JetBlue seems to have their shite together the most. When buying a ticket on JB you pick your seat(s) from those available (you don't just have a ticket then have to fight for a seat). They give free soft drinks and snacks (Doritos, cookies, etc) during their flights and each seat has its own free satellite TV and radio setup (if you don't have headphones they'll sell you some). Over the past year they've put in free "FlyFi" as well (you won't be streaming Netflix on it, but you can text message and check Facebook with no problems).

Flew spirit for the first time last week... yea it was smaller than normal, but other than that not an issue. I mean I didn't get sucked out of a broken window or anything, and that was nice.
