Technically it's been closed since this morning. But they just put a cop there about 30 minutes ago. It's still passable if he'd leave. Not sure how much longer. Haven't gone through it since yesterday

Ok just rode through there, and yes water is definitely higher than it was this morning. I don't know how much more those retention lakes on 74 can hold, but I did notice a lot of other ditches filling up in the area.

where are those images from? My house is just a hair north

The north side of Alligator Bayou Rd where the water is rushing over the road dumping into Spanish Lake. Just south of Manchac Highlands neighborhood.

They had a news crew from Alabama out there.

You could hear them doing work on the road

They must be using the gauge that is directly on the Amite river. It got one reading at noon & hasn't updated since. The one up Manchac some at Little Prairie is the one I'm looking at since it's been updating.

by my calculations, the water will stop coming up in the swamp at 11:30 PM tomorrow night at 12.9 ft.

These numbers are based on current trends. They don't take into account the rain and stuff.

Question.
Not sure if asked already
I saw they are trying to block off the water in AB
Where will the water go if they block it off??
Back up Ward and Fountain??

Down bayou manchac

ETA: if it were actually dammed off completely through all of this, it would have backed up into that fancy golf course over there and a few other subdivisions in BR. Therefor, the road will never be built up higher than it currently is.

I understand that
I'm trying to understand where the water will flow?
WAFB said they were sandbagging to cut off the flow into AB
Where will the rest of the back flow water go??
