Upper Michigan and the Upper Peninsula are awesome this time of year.
They’re not referencing the state but more the governor. I think she’s the only one that imposed COVID restrictions. Oh wait, a bunch of states are locking back up.

Gotta ask, where in Lake Michigan? We're in vacation only a few miles off the lake a ways up from the car ferry dock. Heat lightning is common so if it's in the distance that's a distinct possibility. Today's weather set up perfectly for it (along with what some people think is the only type of lightning to exist.) There was also a slight chop on the Green Bay water and that could mess with visuals.
If you want to get into the supernatural/alien explanation, there are a shitload of ship wrecks at the bottom of the lake. I used to drive charter fishing boats out a few miles from Wisconsin and I've heard a sizable number of strange encounter tales.

my guess is it was the ISS closely followed by a supply Space craft. Used to see this with the Space shuttle when it was in the same orbit prepping to dock with ISS. Amazing sight.

Definitely ISS. If you check out the nasa website for when you can view it in your area, it’s been viewable from Detroit for the past few days for example.
