The one thing that I have learned from following TMZ is that this was not drugs or sex. Because the PR 101 Text Book says that if it is, you immediately check yourself into rehab and make the announcement to get sympathy.
Another thing I have learned in life is that if there is a big pile on money on table, don't turn out the lights. Even if it was a bunch on Nuns and Do Gooders, you never know what people will do when they think no one is watching.
Also, for those haters that want to imply that I am a Russian troll looking to upset people in Trump country....so what? Since when is it a crime for a young man in St. Petersburg with a cell phone and stack of sim cards to ask some simple questions about social injustice?

The unfortunate thing here is that a lot of innocent people that had absolutely nothing to do with whatever went on at OLOL are having their lives affected in a life changing way. His wife, kids, family and their families are all innocent in this. They will be the ones who truly pay the most for this transgression. This is the bad part about a message boards... a lot of rumors and speculation based on bullshite that doesn't so much hurt JP Funes, but the family and friends who are still trying to wrap their minds around it all.

I’m not one for rank speculation and innuendo however I do find it a bit convenient that the powers that be at OLOL waited for the the hospital to be built before confronting these transgressions

I would agree. But keep in mind. At this point, there is only a one-sided story. There are 3 sides to every story: his side, her side and the truth.
At this point, we have only heard a little bit of "her side". In an ugly divorce, the wife will say all kinds on B.S. to make the guy look bad. Right now, you don't know what happened. Only that OLOL Foundation wanted to fire Funes. The way OLOL did this makes them look suspect.
I will put my chips on Funes having a better explanation for this. The truth will probably be somewhere in the middle.
In the end, Funes will probably come out looking a lot better that he does now and OLOL worse.

There have been cases like this where the husband who stole the money did so to get their wife, a child, or family member out of trouble, so you never really know who is innocent.

I love how everyone here is so quick to throw him, wife and kids under the bus. Is it possible that they are not bad people? Why is everyone at OLOL beyond reproach except for Funes?

His salary with the foundation was over 250k exceeding 300k with bonus so unless he's married to the Octomom it's not that expensive. And he isn't.

I will agree with most everything you've said with the exception of In the end, Funes will probably come out looking better than now... Only because I, we, and he shouldn't care one bit about how he comes out looking. If that much money was taken, and he took it then not much can be defended. I truly hope the 3rd side comes out and says it was not this severe and that this has all been overblown.

My guess is he was skimming checks before they hit the OLOL foundation books.
It is an easy scheme to carry out and hard to detect. You intercept the check and deposit them in a similarly named llc that you control.
It is hard to detect because the monies never hit the intended organization's books.
It would probably be detected when the tax records of some donor or donors did not line up with their own records and they started asking g questions.

The dude confessed almost a week ago so if it was something simple like your garden variety second family in Columbia, gambling debts, $5000 a day coke habit etc they would have reported it

Well, I think a house on Hundred Oaks and private schools (you don't send your kids to public schools in EBRP) would be more than covered by his $283K salary.

IF this is true, how does Funes get several hundred thousand dollars that was not approved by legal? This does not seem consistent. Either internal controls are tight or they are not. They can't be both depending on who you are attacking/defending at the moment.
So Legal and Scott Wester were asleep at the wheel while Funes supposedly looted the place, but come Christmas, they are combing over the Xmas card with a magnifying glass. Sounds like incompetence to me. Guess Funes will not be the last one at OLOL fired.

Maybe you should learn the typical responsibilities of internal counsel vs. internal auditors within large organizations before writing anything else.
