No, more like their school doesn't want to look like they're condoning moronic racism. And yes, it's also a crime and people get kicked out of college for crimes too.
And if you're worried it isn't actually racism that motivated them...well, when you do really dumb stuff, sometimes the college you attend isn't interested in looking bad defending your actions.
Best case scenario for these kids, they're complete morons who have no clue who Emmett Till is. No college is gonna want to try to defend them with the "they're too stupid to be racist" argument, though.

Too many SJW warriors with panties on in here. Look they are dumb for shooting the sign; dumber for posting it to social media. Bad look for Ole miss.
But for them to lose their whole future career is preposterous. What if this was your kid that fricked up? Charge them for vandalism and whatever weight that carries. Make them pay to have a new sign, make them maintain the grounds for a year.

Plenty of people get kicked out of school and end up just fine. They've dug their own hole they now need to dig out of.
I have no issue with these morons getting kicked out of school for this. And unfortunately for them, we live in the social media age where their actions will be spread everywhere. Make better decisions.
