Those aren't misused...
thats mishearing something and saying it incorrectly. They are still used properly, and there's a name for them: eggcorn.

This is common in Pearl River County, Mississippi.

The native humans there will randomly add an "s" to the end of proper nouns but not in a possessive situation: Donna Summers, WalMarts, etcs (Hars!).

Linguistically, the (usually under-educated) folk there are in a convergence zone between cracker-speak and French-Caflick coastians/New Orleans and it has some odd manifestations.

It's true for "the" Kiln and Saucier (So-shure) Mississippi natives as well.
