Thanks.
Sure have great memories of times in the stadium and just parking and walking to the stadium past the fans and street vendors was so cool.

Your dad figured.. how often do you get to see a Super Bowl in your backyard and be able to get tickets.

62 is good.
Indeed.

After that 1949 game, LSU would not lose to Tulane again until 1972. That streak included two ties, but also saw the Tigers beat the Green Wave by an identical score of 62-0 on three different occasions.

I also went to the 1973 LSU–Tulane game. That ticket seemed like a harder ticket to get than the Super Bowl ticket. The Super Bowl back then wasn’t quite what it has become.

I don't remember any grass once you entered the stadiums. But when you when you walk in from the Calhoun St. side, I remember concrete walkways and small structures, probably to house food/ drink vendors.

Seems i see a lot of patchy concrete where over 50 years things were added and changed. Im pretty sure there was a cinder block restroom under the metal east expansion behind the concrete. I havent added it yet though

I'm pretty sure that you are correct. By the way, is your user name a reference to Monk Simons?

Grandma lived a block away it was so loud sometimes ??

It must have interesting for the people there.. my guess is that they never thought of it being any other way since it had been there since 1926. Noise was just "the way it was"

I saw on an old program that cigarettes were available in machines on the "ground floor" anyone recall where those machines might have been?

by your experience maybe the Stadium plans are in Baton Rouge.. lol.
I have no idea. I also don't know where we originally got all of the LSU facility plans but we have construction documents for most of the building on campus including all sports facilities.

I found it fascinating that such a huge place and a part of New Orleans and sports history was just lost to time..
Unfortunately, this is true for most big cities. Owners are fascinated with these giant office buildings and entertainment complexes, so they buy a plot of land throw up some structures. Mixed in is a stadium.
Gone are the days of finding a city block and carefully crafting a venue to fit. The smell of popcorn and a hot dogs has been replaced with hibachi grills and fancy restaurants. Your foamy beer is $18, but a craft beer is only $22.
I hate it.
