I’m not an expert by any means but I’ve read that the risk of shale stoppage plus OPEC’s shenanigans have been driving prices up. Is this true and is there any chance they go back down?

Looks like you'll have to return a lot more to Walmart.

There are currently >8,500 unconventional wells waiting to be frac'd in the US right now. They are likely drilled to hold leases and will be turned on when prices get high enough.

The US is also producing 2 million more bbls per day than we were a year ago. I hate to say it but Shale is not going anywhere anytime soon and neither are prices. Likely will be stuck inbetween $50-$70/bbl for the foreseeable future.

It’s not stopping. It may slow down as some investors are getting cold feet after not getting the returns they were promised. But it’s not stopping.

The issue is how to get it out of the basin economically. Their is a dearth of pipelines in that area and the environmentalists are fighting every foot of new pipe that companies want to lay.
