They'll prefer a strong mind to a strong back when they are 50 years old. Tell them to keep their arse in school.

Nah I'd definitely send them with a stack of resumes.

Check solar website for openings. They really like military people.

No degree, just two years of taking requirements for a 4 year degree. There is a pretty significant migration of kids going to the oilfield from college.
They have buds that are welders and a couple that are working the floor on drilling rigs. They also have friends that have a BA and teach school for 34k a year.

There are ways into this business that no one here talks about. Depending on your degree, try getting in as an applications guy for some of the ONG pump/valve companies. They don't usually need you to be an engineer and they have a high growth potential if you are worth a frick. This is the angle I took 10 years ago and I couldn't be happier in how its turned out for me...

Learn pumps and valves and the ONG world can be your oyster...

Associates? Just go ahead and join the ranks of the online medical assistant who spent $25k to earn a $12/hour job... You go girl!

How about Permian Basin in West TX or NM? There's coonasses all over Lea County. Some guy who claims to be from "around Baton Rouge" opened a "Cajun cooking" food truck.
