A top health official in Ohio estimated on Thursday that more than 100,000 people in the state have coronavirus

So Ohio has 20,000 more people infected than China does? Right

Based on the number of people who visited Italy who got it, I think 20 or 30 million people in Italy have it.

There is another way to look at this- if it is anywhere near true that so many people already have it and the hospitals aren’t overwhelmed and people aren’t that sick and/or dying then maybe, just maybe it’s not really all that bad-

Not sure which is harder to believe. Stated numbers or this TOP health official.

Why? They're both estimates that are likely way off.

more than 100,000 people in the state have coronavirus, a shockingly high number that underscores the limited testing so far.

So 100k have it, but how many have presented at hospitals or doctors' offices complaining of symptoms? It seems to me that if 100k had it you would damn sure know it.

Why? Or the other possibility that is just as likely, is that for the average person it’s nothing but symptoms of a basic cold or less. It’s cold and flu season, so it’s just as likely people are sick but don’t think it’s anything major. It’s just that the Covid is very bad for a small portion with bad underlying health issues.

Wanted to bump this thread for how ridiculous it was at the time.

Only about 93,000 off the 100,000 estimate.

Good bump. Is this Ohio health official involved with the UW model by chance?

it's an insane estimate

Why?
Iceland has seen near 1% infection in general population.

Germany did antibody testing in hard hit region. 15%.

This shite is likely very prevalent.
