Then good for you. Consider yourself lucky. In the past three years, I have known 5 or 6 people who have died from ODing. One was someone I grew up with, someone I went to school with, another was a good friend's brother, and a few others I knew.

Also, I have a relative who has fought addiction for years. And know of others who are fighting it. I know of a few who have gotten clean. Its not an easy thing for someone to get clean.

Do you know any alcoholics? Its the same fricking thing.

If you don't know someone who is addicted, who was addicted or who has died from addiction then you are either clueless or just don't know very many people. It must be fun living in a bubble.

And states say they can't get drugs for lethal injection. These drug users can't kill themselves fast enough.

Odds are maybe a majority do, but odds are not that everyone does. I can't think of anyone I was remotely concerned with who is addicted or died. I'm sure there are some people who I haven't kept up with from my past who might be dead or addicted.

Ignorance is bliss but so is not associating with drug addicts.

A lot of internet hard asses in here who have no damn clue how many people are hooked on pills. This isn’t a class thing, plenty of well to do people get caught up in this. I would bet a majority of people in this thread know someone addicted to pills, whether they realize it or not.

I used to prosecute drug cases and see a bunch of young people from nice families who start off fricked up on pills and end up stealing shite from Walmart to buy heroin once their family cuts them off. And the lucky ones get arrested and end up in rehab. The unlucky ones never get arrested and overdose.

Meh. No one had sympathy for anyone during the crack epidemic.

Maybe you do but you don't know it. I didn't think I did either until I found out differently.

Meh, edgy and cool generalization. I saw Chapelle's last stand up as well.

I did not realize Franklin County, which is Columbus, is the most populated county in Ohio.

Thought it would have been Cayahuga, which is Cleveland.

Columbus is exploding population-wise. Our metro area also has the benefit of not being land locked like Cleveland (Lake Erie) and Cincinnati (Ohio River/Northern Kentucky/South Eastern Indiana).

Can't argue with that. Nobody gave a frick about crack addicts. I went to HS with several people who I would have never thought would go down that route.. Then several years after graduating I would run into someone I went to school with and we would talk about what certain people were doing at the time and I would hear this person was a crack addict or that person. They were all black people (if that matters) and it was a whole different attitude.

There was one guy... He was smart, a captain on the football team, and was really a nice person. He just seemed like someone who had a bright future ahead of him. I couldn't believe it when I heard he was a "crackhead". Evidently after HS he started selling to make extra money and somehow he started using ..

With that said, more people are now aware that addiction becomes a sickness (that's what happens when it starts to impact middle class and up white people). Like alcoholics. Not everyone who drinks are alcoholics, but some people's make-up.. Its in their DNA. All it takes is one drink and that's it.

Fentanyl comes from a lab. A lab can be setup anywhere and money can be wired back to any country.

I think fentanyl is a little more complicated to make than meth. I was listening to a guy talk about the pharmaceutical like production facilities in China that make this shite. It isn’t hillbillies with Sudafed and a Powerade bottle

saw a billboard today for a crematory service with pricing listed as "starting at $995". Why are there price differences for a crematory? Do they not BBQ you fully at $995?

Think of bbq-ing a half chicken versus a whole hog. Also it depends on how fancy your urn is

Yeah, its not something just anyone can make. The cartels are starting to provide it. I am not sure if they are making it or getting it from China, but a lot of it in the US comes from China.

That’s because we are a racist nation founded on racism and fueled by racism

/sarcasm

Serious answer? Fentanyl hasn’t lead to turf and gang wars resulting in rapid increases in murder and other viciously violent crimes.

An overwhelming majority are coming from China. Cartels can make dirty shite, heroin, cocaine, meth, but clinical grade stuff usually comes from clinical grade facilities.

Yes.. In Louisiana.

I had this conversation with someone a few weeks ago. He was telling me about someone he knows who has a kid (early 20s) who was sent off to a rehab center (its one out of state where you have to stay 18 months. At a certain point they work you back into living a life without addiction. You work.. stay active, etc) and we were saying how everyone at least knows one person..

A few months ago someone I knew growing up.. Who was maybe 6-7 years younger than I.. I know his family.. But that is the last person I know of who OD'd and died.

One of my close friends got addicted to Oxy after he had two shoulder surgeries in less than a year. Luckily he went off to a rehab similar to the one I explained above and is clean.. He goes around and speaks to local HSs about it, etc.

I am actually surprised there are a lot of people saying they know no one who has ODd .. died or is/was an addict.

I had a cousin who was dating this guy years ago (10+ years). I remember one day I was at a local bar having a few drinks with people. He sees my vehicle and comes in to ask if I know any police who would come write him a report. He claimed his truck was broken into and they stole his pain pills and that the only way he could get them filled was if he got a police report saying they were stolen and the police who came out wouldn't write him a report because they didn't see any sign of a break in.

In the state he was in at that time, I am pretty sure he would have sucked a dick for pain pills (well that might be extreme, but he would have probably at least thought about it).

He was a bull rider. He had his jaw broke and between that injury and one before that, he got hooked. From what I understand its something that is common with bull riders.

Dude I can go on about people over the years who became addicts. Some for different reasons than others, but even today its still a problem

Thread title is a logical fallacy.

Since not everyone is a drug addict the situation is only temporary and will resolve itself once the herd thins itself. Once the overpopulation of druggies dies back the need for additional space will disappear.
