I just got back from two weeks in Italy. Venice, Florence, Rome, Taormina, and Palermo.
Never had an issue with the elevators, restrooms a different story. Public restrooms you have to pay to use (like many places in Europe) but many businesses, restaurants and the like, don’t have toilet seats.
Let’s just say it makes it seem very third World when you’re trying to eat your way across the country.
