These pilots were randomly put on this flight together. I don't think they would be that good to time it just right and get behind an aircraft like that.

what if you owned a flight sim like the pilot and you practiced this for years?

also I dont buy the Pakistan has the best air defenses, sure we want to say that because we have given those fools billions, but how can a country claim that when whole portions of that country are under control of militants? Pakistan cannot even keep their own territory how can they guard their own airspace?

why do planes have a 'kill switch' for the pilot to use with transponders in the first place?

reduce clutter on radar when plane is on the ground.

May need to make them so that they are on as long as the engines are on.

You would still have know all of the flight plans of the other aircraft in the area, and time it just perfect to get behind them. I just think it would be tough to time your speed with theirs also and be able to catch up.

or these guys have been waiting a long time for the chance to be on the same plane and simply executed a long running plan.

If that is the case, then I really doubt suicide.

Now Australia is saying they think it's in a relatively small area SW of Perth.

flight plans are predetermined and these paths are common "corridors" for airlines

It would be nice to have that feature, but you have to think, what if the boxes that are associated with the transponder overheat and potentially cause a fire. How would they turn them off to prevent it?

** When in ADIZ zones or in 30 Mile mode C transponder zones around Class B airports or above 18,000 feet.

But since all coastal areas are ADIZ zones that is moot.

I was thinking similar, but they are prepared for war with India, so they do have a better air force than a ground force maybe.

You would be surprised who has the best air defense systems...google it. India, Pakistan, Syria, Egypt, N. Korea. But it does make sense that the US wouldn't be at the top or that Pakistan would be better than Malaysia and Thailand....the only 2 that claim to have detected them.

was in early July 2011 I think. From Spokane to DEN.

Mine was in August of 2012 coming from New Orleans.

Yeah, it may be more common there than most places. It was the only time it's ever happened to me. We were wobbling a good bit coming down and then when we were 20 feet or so above the runway, the engines throttled back up and we took off again. Crazy.

Watching almost every news channel at once on News Mix.

just catching what the "experts" re saying and reading the net. Have to leave for work in ten so. I'm going to go dark again.

I hope they find this thing soon. I wonder how long it will take to lose interest if they don't.

yea but that border with Afghanistan is porous, India and Pakistan hire gunmen to terror each other and they just do and move wherever they want.

In the U.S. the last time I checked there was no requirement for civilian aircraft to have a transponder or even a radio if flying VFR and not in controlled airspace, don't know about other countries.

everyday I wake up expecting them to find the wreckage but the longer this goes the more I am inclined to believe it did not crash, unless its in a jungle somewhere
