Reported earlier that the USA Kidd and a sub hunter airplane are concentrating search efforts here. Said to have the best sonar equipment available.

Though terrorists live on installing fear. If a couple of more planes disappear with no trace, people are going to be really afraid to fly.
I think it will be solved soon.

I think it's already solved but the Malaysian, American and British governments aren't saying anything.

Despite if and when this plane is found, I think this could be one of the most intriguing aviation mysteries ever. Earhart disappeared forever, sure. But how do you lose one of the biggest planes in the sky with all the tech we have now?
That's what has really shocked people

I'm leaning this way.

People are too accustomed to the Hollywood/TV versions of technology used by the military or intelligence agencies. They see what is public knowledge, and assume the secret stuff must be several of orders of magnitude better in capability. Take the Boston Bombers, there was constant thread postings about the FBI using image enhancement and facial recognition software to find the guys, non of which was close to reality.

They're probably negotiating with the terrorists as we speak.

have always had issues with the stealing the plane theory. Why go off radar so early in flight? If you are headed into Asia to land plane somewhere else why not remain inconspicuous until late in the flight instead of going off line and possibly setting off alerts to all of Asia to be on the lookout for a 777 that is missing?
Because it gave them a three day head start while everyone was running around in circles looking for a crashed plane in the wrong area.

Despite all the money we throw at problems we can't prevent them all. It just gives people a sense of security, some of which is inflated.

But that doesn't appear to have been the motive so my point still stands.

I thought the Malaysians did a great job of this.
Read a CNN article, and it said this "You can't just fly a Triple 7 and not have a radar trace," he (official) said.
Isn't this exactly what they did?

I think the term "Malaysians" needs to enter the TD lexicon.

It would have gone on longer without all the outside pressure

I can't wait until they have the Keith Morrison dateline NBC for this.

That is what they wanted everyone to think. I don't get why though? Maybe they didn't want to tip off just how bad their military radar is ?
