This thing will never be solved... Extremely fascinating and frustrating at the same time.

If it is, it won't be announced by our mainstream media.

Yeh I can't explain why the pilot did what he did, if that was even his plan. Maybe he had second thoughts after setting his plan or impulse into action? May have been waive ring back and forth or just wanted to die but couldn't just make the decision to nosedive.
I have always had issues with the stealing the plane theory. Why go off radar so early in flight? If you are headed into Asia to land plane somewhere else why not remain inconspicuous until late in the flight instead of going off line and possibly setting off alerts to all of Asia to be on the lookout for a 777 that is missing?

This will never be resolved. It just disappeared into thin air. Debris may finally make it to shore somewhere a few years from now.
I can't even imagine how long this thread will be by then.

how many times does the 45,000 ft. number have to be discredited before it stops being mentioned?
The 45,000 ft mark came from military radar data and has NOT been disputed.
The only disputed data came from the Rolls-Royce engine that reported a 40,000 foot drop in less than a minute. The military data has been a fact since it was reported.

2nd page, 3rd paragraph, last sentence....they presume it has crashed

It actually has. They are unsure how accurate it is.

They also talked about how the radars were so far away the data may not be accurate.
There has been so much mixed information and expert after expert contradicting one another though. Anything anyone posts here has probably been stated at one point or another.

I posted this earlier. Does it not seem like the pilot would have stated something to someone like ATC or requested to speak with some official in the Malaysian government to draw attention to the political situation instead of not saying anything and taking the plane on an unscheduled joyride without saying a word? If he was pulling a stunt like this for political reasons surely he would make those reasons known.
He may also have been an amateur. The trial happened the same day. This could have been an impulse political protest which made sense only in his fevered mind.
The only problem I have is how he jumps from disliking his favorite politician being jailed to killing 200+ people. But depending on how irrational he was, I suppose it's possible.
God rest their souls.

I posted that maybe he did tell Malaysia ATC and they have covered it up. Maybe that's why they seem to be such idiots in the whole ordeal....trying to deflect anyway they can and praying this plane is never found. They would do that for the simple reason of not wanting international attention about the bogus conviction of the politician being attached to a pissed off supporter of his going nuts and killing 230 people. That would certainly cause an international shitstorm of major proportion. But what is worse for them is if it is determined that they did try and cover all this up it will be far worse.

I was looking at that southern track area.
There are two very remote areas where a plane could land at night. Each are in Australian territory, but both are very long and are near the last known track of the plane.

It would have landed during daylight. I would think Australia would have good radar along that corridor but that is just an opinion. Still interesting.

If the pilot(s) tried to land on the Cocos or Christmas Island, the Australians would make short order of them, and that would have happened already.
If they took the southern corridor, this story is over. They're dead.

I'm really running out of patience with this missing plane. I come home and look on here and turn on the tv expecting to have some sort of new information and we aren't any closer to solving this mystery than we were the day before. If Malaysia PM would just take a fricking seat and let the US handle this, we could get shite done.

that's all there is on that corridor until you hit Antarctica.
Just strange if it was a suicide attempt that they would fly out that way.
I'm looking for other places to ditch, but that whole area is just devoid of islands.

IIRC, almost all of the rest of the flight path was over land.

I thought it was plausible till I looked up who owned the islands. I'm sure the really remote buildings on the islands are probably radar installations to give a heads up to the mainland.
Even if they landed there just to refuel (runway not long enough for a 777 to take off fueled anyway)
someone would have reported it.

if it crossed afghan's airspace, the US would know all about it.
