I don't know how it is in an airliner but a private jet has a knob you turn to set pressure.
You can fly depresured with no problem as long as you have oxygen.

Sorry if already in the last few pages, but I just saw this...
This shite gets more cray by the minute. I originally and up until a day ago was in the hakims razor camp... The easiest explanation is often the most correct, i.e. the plane is at the bottom of the ocean.

Although U.S. officials previously said they believed the plane could have remained in the air for several extra hours, Najib said Saturday that the flight was still communicating with satellites until 8:11 a.m. — seven and a half hours after takeoff

A former 777 pilot on the news last night said its the same. The pilot and easily depressurize whenever he wants.
He thinks they put on oxygen masks, depressurized, and killed everyone on board.

Why would anyone want to steal an airliner? Makes no sense if they're trying to be covert.
Lots of relatively cheap stuff here for one time use...and already in the area.
Crazy how you can buy a used 737 for less than a new Cessna or Piper..

This is, by far, the most fascinating thread I've read on TD or SECR since I joined. Thanks

These people were brought down somewhere and cannibalized... only theory left

No. They can't even narrow down a search area after a week. Northern search grid extends from almost Russia to northern Thailand...and the other side of Pakistan. As well as the Indian Ocean. They are clueless.

Would there be any incentive to keep the plane's passengers alive as hostages? With only 3 Americans on board, I doubt the passengers would have fought back if there were multiple hijackers. Seems like having a bunch of Chinese hostages would give the Uighur terrorists more negotiating power.

Like someone said a few pages back. If this were a movie I would be bitching saying this could never happen in real life. Absolutely nuts

Most people think they rose to 45,000 ft to kill all the passengers. Maybe there way of taking control w/o having 4-6 terrorists on board?

yea, turn it on there. This John Nance guy knows his shite. They will show the simulator guy in a minute to demonstrate how impossible it is to perform what the pings say happened. It makes me want to throw up.
Rolls Royce said the data from the Pings was unreliable.
I'm 100% thinking now the pilot was in on this. He had so many hours on this plane and just knew his way around it. Hell he probably knew enough to pull the breakers from the data recorders, so that when this thing is found we have nothing.
I still don't see the endgame. If AQ wanted a plane to fly, they could buy a used liner easily. If it was a test to see if a pilot could be corrupted or something more sinister, then I hope we at least get to find this out.
We still can't trust the pings 100%, but the fact that there were pings and they kept flying for 7+ hours, and that the plane went silent at the minute Malaysia handed them off really points to rouge pilot.
