Fox had "breaking news" on Hannity's show about something that had been on their own network 4 or 5 hours earlier. It's just ridiculous.

Not everyone watches TV all day, so they play breaking news at times when others may have started watching.....because many times it is "breaking news" to the working crowd

It will never be solved because it simply sounds like no one wants to solve it. It's like neither team taking the reins and putting a football game away. When it used to end in a tie. This thing is going to end in a tie and everyone is going to have that same feeling that nothing was resolved.

I think it is very strange a pilot would build a simulator at his house. You would think it would be extremely expensive and that pilots would have access simulators at the company they work for. It would make sense if he was training terrorists how to fly the planes though.

I've seen a picture of it. It's not a full fledged simulator, just a PC with flight controls linked to a couple of big screen HD monitors. Well within the budget of an airline pilot or even an aviation buff.

How's this for a theory: Pilots disoriented by hypoxia, or flight attendant/passenger with some aviation knowledge, is able to get the plane turned around, perhaps by partially reprogramming the autopilot, but isn't able to navigate or communicate. This would explain the transponder being turned off inadvertently by a layman trying to work the radio or a pilot with diminished capacity.

Yes but there are satellites, other planes, ships, etc. that are criss crossing the globe. If you fly for thousands of miles you will cross paths with something.

still think if there was an attempt to hijack the pilots would have sent a distress call...the only thing that makes me feel this could be possible is that one of the pilots had a simulator at his house and they could have practiced the route...flying low, turning off the transponder...etc

Not those 2 assclown pilots! In case you haven't heard, they had an open door policy in the cockpit and broke several rules routinely.

Simple, people geett into cockpit...after everyone comfy they off the pilots and turn off all of the electronics and transponders. That would also turn off any type of cell phone texting service available. Then someone fricks up and the cabin depressurizes after they make a turn and bam!, everyone is dead and plane flies until it hits something or runs out of fuel and hits something. Passengers may have been alive and couldn't break down the cabin door..Hell, maybe some even jumped out....no one has a single clue

There is a specific code that turns it off notating the pilot doing so. IF it was turned off intentionally using standard controls, that would have registered.

I like this.

Similar to the plane crash in Greece where a male flight attendant (flight student as well) tried to save a plane after the pilots were unconscious.

and if you are reported missing you will be spotted by hundreds of people that didnt see you at all.

couple that with being in the middle of the indian ocean at 2am with your electronics out potentially.... i imagine going unseen, while still a stretch, is a little bit less than it is flying over kentucky on a saturday afternoon.

His destination: some small airport that closes at night (plenty of these over there - two with adequate runway length in his flight path over the peninsula alone actually) where a shell company had leased a hangar.

I follow you. now what about the people and their cell phones?

pilots disable the cell phones in mid air
land the plane, pull into a hangar
get off the plane
close the doors
gas everyone inside

Well i'm still on the hijack/taken down bandwagon.

The whole "we saw the plane on radar going in the completely wrong direction but decided not to investigate" just doesn't jive with me. Any sovereign country will investigate an unidentified or erratic aircraft in their airspace.
