To be fair, EBR doesn't really do that whole school thing when they're open.

Interesting forecast for us in north AL Thursday/Friday. We warm into the low 40s Thursday, but get rain after noon. Temp drops to 25° Thurs night with a 70% chance of rain. Back in the deep freeze Fri with a high of 31° and low of 7°. Saturday is forecast to be 22°/8°.

Seriously, why are they closed tomorrow? Because it's going to be cold? Tomorrow's high is forecast to be 48 degrees and sunny.

I'm not usually one to bitch about this sort of thing but this particular closure really does piss me off. My state tax dollars are supporting that kind of stupidity and it pisses me off.

I’m just saying if it’s going to be this cold outside wish EBR could atleast get some snow. That snow we had in 12/2017 was nice.

So the majority of exposed water pipes are in my attic and they're frozen but thankfully they're all pex. Is there anything I can do to try and thaw them like using a space heater or opening a vent from the furnace?

The students are demanding at the very least local libraries be open at 10am to gather to discuss and continue their debate from last week about Greek mythology. We'll see what happens

I used a space heater at a distance so it slowly melted with a spigot opened last time it happened.

I assume that when the temp dips back below freezing it will refreeze all the water that melted from last night? And because of that they don’t buses in the road.

These decisions are almost always made with more rural areas in mind. Major roadways should be fine for the most part. Sun and wind will help a lot, but the shady and less-traveled areas either won't clear today or will refreeze. They aren't sending busses out knowing that.

Yea but the roads will evaporate today. Hell, they're just about all the way evaporated now where I am in Ascension. Can't imagine any way in hell any water will be left on the roads by sundown today with the low humidity and windy conditions.

Wafb reports 10 in closed in both directions from Breaux bridge to highland. Eastbound was open this morning. So maybe some thaw and refreeze.
