The last police ambush in BR was on a Sunday as well. So tired of this crap happening over and over.

But, but, but..... the Advocate keeps reminding us that it's a Pulitzer Prize winning newspaper. Of course, they won the prize for their heroic efforts to keep criminals OUT of jail.

Source?

I can’t name names (I know.. downvote away) but someone close to the situation. I don’t have many sources but I do for incidents like these unfortunately. Someone I trust.

Guess they wanted to make it known that the shooting took place in a part of NBR where the houses haven't completely fallen apart.

Gotcha. It is involving a close friend so I have been trying to get as much information as possible. One of the families gave me an update, but there wasn't much information available at the time.

How is the suspect still at-large? He was holed up not long ago and now there's 500 or so officers on the scene. Is this a Jason Bourne-like situation?

Understand. I didn’t hear anything about a suspect just the officers. In any event, sorry this has happened. Sending prayers your way.

I didn't want to be "that guy", but this thought also crossed my mind.

40 is like half the BRPD. The other half are at the downed officer scene. Now would be a great time to commit some crime. They would never respond in time to catch you.

These things are unacceptable and sad, but they're also reminders of where we sit on the hierarchy of importance compared to government law enforcers.

No, 40 is less than 5% of everyone employed by the BRPD. Not all of them are sworn officers, but still.. EBRSO and State Troopers are also heavily present at least on the scene.

A friend of mine shared a live video on FB from a woman that lives 2 or 3 houses down from where it happened. Half the cops clearing the way for the paramedics to get the officers and the other half running around with weapons drawn trying to find the suspect. It was a crazy scene.

Personally, I am glad that someone who is a first responder to criminal and medica emergencies receive a little favorable treatment when injured. These folks don’t make a lot of money to deal with the worst of our society. The least we can do is allow family/friends a few minutes to be near if they are fighting for their life. I would like to be near my family too, but can appreciate the difference if someone if severely injured in the line of duty.
