find it interesting how her immediate reaction was to use it as an opportunity to file for workers comp.

If something like that happened to me, I would probably laugh, inform the appropriate people about what happened then continue on with my day. It is almost as if she was waiting for something to happen.

that was my thought... it took her maybe 5 seconds to think, "i'm going to hit myself." WTF is going on in one's brain for that to be the first reaction?

a few years back we had and ice storm and i had to go out to one of our sites to fix the internet. i slipped and fell on the ice... laughed about it and mentioned it to a few coworkers. one of them afterwards told me to ham it up and claim worker's comp.

My first thought as well. You have to be some kind of fricked up for that to be the first thing you think of.

My question is why did it take them getting suspicious to check the video? Why didn't her company just watch the video right away? I know I would, even if it was just for a laugh

Exactly.

I was on a project once and I was working in health & safety (one of the jobs our department did was investigate workers comp situations). One day, when most people already left for the day, this girl broke her wrist while at work. She said she slipped and fell and her arm/hand was in front of her so when she fell, she fell on it.. That's how it broke. Looked at the video. She was at her cubicle with two other employees and two people who didn't work there.

Those dumb frickers were trying to do handstands in the aisle (and just horse playing). She broke her wrist when she was in the middle of the hand stand, her wrist were evidently not strong enough to hold up her body weight and her wrist broke. And she busted her arse once she broke it... That was funny as hell, but you can't ever go by someone's word in those situations.

It also would've hit the top of her head not the bottom of her forehead.

Yeah and they only weigh an oz or two. Even if it would have hit her it would not have done any damage.

Falling Sprinkle

from the crappy video it looks like sprinkler cap that fell.

they are designed to cosmetically hide the sprinkler heads and blow off in the event of a fire. It wouldn't have fallen from the ceiling with the amount of force that she used to hit her head. likely why they were suspecious....

Something is suspicious about the above quote.

Anyone that's ever seen a sprinkler head go off, knows that video is complete and total horse shite. Without that diffuser in place to "spray" the water, the force of it would have knocked her across the room if it had hit her.

It's inside so there's no reason for it to be a "dry" system.

I'm calling bullshite on this one.

That's fricking hilarious.

It would take two seconds to realize there is no way it could have hit her unless she was standing on the corner of her desk. Her boss probably looked at the sprinkler, looked at her chair, and then put two and two together.

That's a great gif.
