Don't fricking go up or down one floor. Just don't. Take the stairs. Unless you're handicapped obviously.

My old office building keeps the stairwell doors locked on the inside. So you could go into the stairwell, but then you had to go all the way down to the bottom floor to get out. I felt like such an a-hole having to take the elevator down one floor to go to the restroom when they were renovating the ones on our floor. I'm sure I got plenty of bad stares from other people on the elevator when I'd exit.

It took them 3 weeks to realize this was ridiculous and finally unlock the doors so we could take the stairs. But, as soon as renovations were done, they locked them back up.

I don't do this.

WAT? It isn't the Titanic. Whoever is closest to the door gets off first.

I do get upset at the folks that won't wait until I get off the elevator, but on the flip side, get off the elevator promptly upon arriving at your floor. So many times I hear "oh wait, is this my floor? What floor is this? Pay attention!

It’s much more efficient for the people closest to the door to exit first.

Being able to check out the arse of the smoking hot chick on the floor above you is far more important than efficiency.

This has to be a safety hazard of some kind.

We had a very awkward elevator situation in one of the six in our bank of elevators when we moved to a new building.

Only one elevator goes down to the parking garage and it has front AND back doors. the back door opens in the garage.

at the end of the day, folks on the elevator are going to the lobby and the garage. no one knows where to face.

Some folks split the difference and face sideways—a trying-too-hard effort at being polite.

After months of observation, most folks commit to face their direction of exit. Backs to other riders be damned!

We have this one gal that always rushes in when the doors open. I nearly run her over at least once a week because she hasn’t figured out the fact that folks need to get out before you go in.
