Why do we feel the need to act as if Mexico is some sort of 51st state? Viva Mexico?

Last night's broadcast was on a whole new level of absurdly awful.

He spoke English, but not very well. It was the most vanilla sideline report that the broken English made even worse.
It went something like "I am very proud to be reporting from de sideline where de cheifs de Kansaas Sity have arrived prior to de kickoff and dey appear to be ready to play dis great game of the futbol. Back to you"
