I dunno. All it takes to be obese is to be 5-10 lbs overweight.
That’s a lot of people.
That’s a lot of people.

I view fat people as the same as the body modification and facial tattoo people. They are both boldly proclaiming and broadcasting their poor decision making.
Live and let live though.

Maybe YOU are blessed with genetics making it easier for you to maintain a healthy weight but it’s not as easy for others. Maybe you have more free time to exercise. Maybe you have a higher income, making it more possible for you to buy healthy foods. Some people have to work very hard just to maintain their weight let alone lose. Some can eat whatever the hell the want and stay skinny. Some are parents - sometimes it’s a choice between spending time with your kids and exercising. Some women gained too much weigh during pregnancy and it’s just too hard to lose it.
Being 600 lbs is much more of a choice than say 250 but 250 is obese too according to BMI charts.
Cut people some slack.
I have 3 kids age 4 and under. I slept about 5.5 hours last night.
I ran 7.1 miles today and I’m snacking on watermelon. (The best summer fruit if you ask me.) My wife (no pics) also busted her arse for a 45 min workout this morning and had a healthy breakfast. She also slept like shite last night.
Being fat is a choice.

Yes, yes it is..
Doesn't help that sugar is one of the most addictive substances on the planet...

It would be hard work to try to eat that much whole food in a day. And again that is zero exercise or activity.
Intermittent Fasting works...also cutting carbs and sugars.
40 year old me was a Mountain Dew and Power Aide drinking fast food eating machine (I was driving Hot Shot)...and drinking Bud heavy in the evenings.
50 year old me rarely drinks beer (Vitali vodka and water) and tries to eat/drink after 4PM up to midnight (16 hour fast/8 hour ingestion window).
I look younger now than I did 10 years ago...not to mention I am down 10 LBS from the 188 LBS photo.
Watch Dr. Berg on YouTube...it is educational and motivational.
NOTE: If you have an occasional Daiquiri, like I did yesterday...you will feel guilty!

The hard part is making a choice that you're going to prioritize your health for the long run. Being healthy allows me to have more meaningful playtime with my kids, running around with them at the park, kicking a soccer ball back and forth and such. It saddens me to see kids playing and their parents (honestly, fat or otherwise) sitting on a bench scrolling their phone missing the best part of life for cheap endorphins off Twitter. That's 100% a choice, and one of the worst ones you can make.

Coming in late to the party, so SIAP-
I believe in the fat gene. There's a neighborhood kid who is a fat frick. None of his brothers or sisters or mom or dad are fat fricks, they all eat the same diet. This one kid in his family is "the fat kid". He's going to struggle with weight for the rest of his life because of his fat gene.
That's obviously not an excuse for everyone, but it does exist.

It's a culmination of decisions, not just one decision. No singular decision one makes will make them lose or gain weight.
There is a large array of things that influences those decisions.

My brother is overweight. My sister (no pics) used to be overweight. She slimmed down and kept it off by a maniacal fitness routine and dietary practices that I believe are a borderline eating disorder.
I am not overweight, even though I eat like shite. I exercise, but I'm not a fanatic about it, and all the research shows that exercise is a minor part of it compared to diet anyway.

I agree but I also think some folks are genetically predisposed to gaining weight faster than others...it's science and shite.

lol...how is he supposed to do that? "Hey fatty, you should put down the donut and eat a sweet potato instead."
People need to take responsibility for their own health and the health of their children. You can't trust the government or doctors to give you good advice.

I never said I support the lardasses I just don’t let them get so much headspace that I run to an LSU sports forum to discuss them.

Why do you knuckle draggers worry about the fatties so much? Who cares if Barbra from accounting wants another Twinkie?
Eye candy. It sucks going out in public and the vast majority of females are obese. It’s to the point where any chick that’s not fat is automatically starting off at a 7 regardless of how ugly her face is

I’m shocked at the amount of downvotes here. Bunch of people who can’t keep the fork out their mouth I guess. It’s 100% preventable but takes a little will power which most don’t have

I've been saying it. Fatties are making us uglier over time. Skinny, average to below average chicks are instantly moved up in the pecking order.

180 in high school. Went to college and graduated at 200. About 6 years I got up to 225 and was like nope happening. Improved my workout and just stoped eating unless I was hungry. I’m down to 185 and been that way for five years

Somehow all these talking points you listed wasn't/isn't such a huge factor for so much of human history or for many parts of the world (remember the US is among the fattest out there)?
Hell even in the 90s, the fattest US states were less fat than the skinniest states today. Not that people weren't fat in the 90s, but many fat people at that time would be considered average by today's standards
There are definitely people with genetic conditions that make it harder (not impossible) to lose weight but that doesn't apply to most people. And in most of those cases it may explain why someone is 20-40 pounds overweight but not 120 pounds
