WASHINGTON (AP) - Two cities will get their first visits from President Barack Obama after his final State of the Union address. The White House said Obama will visit Omaha, Nebraska, on Wednesday, followed by an appearance in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Thursday. Obama will deliver the speech Tuesday night at the US Capitol and a trip the following day is tradition. He is expected to talk at both stops about progress under his leadership, as well as an agenda for his remaining year - and the years to come - to keep it going. The White House noted unemployment in both states has fallen significantly since the height of the Great Recession and that more than 2.5 million people are covered under his health care law.

The only reason I care is because traffic will be bad that day.

If he's going to the capital I do not imagine traffic will shutdown the entire city. I110- airport to downtown will be shutdown surly though.

Yeah those a-holes killed my thread. It was soaring on the OT, and It's on the bottom of the polo board page now.

Pretty sure he'll have to fly into NOLA. Really don't think BR can handle a 747.

Which means I-10 is fricked.

Which means BR is fricked.

Told my boss I might work from the house that day.

Air Force One can and has been to the BR airport before. I got tangled up in the traffic. He uses the back side of the airport by the National Guard armory to come in and out. At least he did when I got stopped in the traffic. By heavily armed men.

I think I've seen AF1 parked there before?

brb

Ok, it's close - min required runway length for 747 is 7500ft which is the length of BR's longest runway.

AF1 is not your standard 747. It has an extra "booster" engine for short takeoffs.
